free water at stanstead 10th Jul 17 at 8:50 AM
'Stansted told us it has eight water stations in total – six in the departure lounges and satellite buildings, and two in international arrivals. They're all near toilets.
The airport says: "We also provide ‘honesty box’ water stations in the departure lounge. A donation of £1 is suggested as a suitable contribution per bottle." These are located in the main departure lounge, near the monorail system that goes to the satellite buildings. - MSE

Were exactly is this free bottled water, as I could not find it.

I don't see anything saying there is free bottled water. You have an honesty box for bottled water. The free water is possibly drinking water fountains, especially as they are near the toilets.

All the free water I've seen at UK airports has been from fountains - just bring your own empty bottle and fill it after you clear security.

Free water is via drinking fountains so you can fill your own bottles. AFAIK the bottled water stations (which are not free because they're on a honesty box system and the bottles are £1) are buy the boarding gates. That's presuming they still have them.

The free fountains at LGW North Terminal are as soon as you've cleared the security x-ray machine, but before you get into the Departure Lounge.

I've never seen free bottles of water at Stansted! The cheapest water is in HEMA at £1 a bottle.

The bottled water with the honesty box is just where you leave the shop/restaurant area go to the gates. Stacks and stacks of the stuff. It's not free, you put a donation in the honesty box. It's only free if you're dishonest!

Free water fountains are just after security.

Suspect moneysavingexpert is being a bit naive

I think moneysavingexpert is being naive believing anything that Stansted Airport or Manchester Airports Group tells them.

I tweeted this yesterday but I'll be amazed if I get a reply.

"@STN_Airport How about photos of the alleged water points and voluntary contribution for bottles site http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5677153 …"

I looked for water near some loos a couple of weeks back but didn't see any. There is a stand with water bottles at the exit of the departure lounge but it has "Pay" and "£1" in huge letters multiple times. No suggestion it is voluntary

Maybe they changed it because too many people thought donating in the honesty box actually meant free water.

Suggested donation = optional amount! Will 50p suffice?

Oh dear. I dislike this stingy thing about water or anything else, sorry.

Just put a pound or 50p in the honesty box or nothing if that is what you are like.

No need to worry, it is free if you decide not to pay. I cannot understand this penny pinching stuff when people will spend hundreds of multiples of a pound when they reach their destination.

It baffles me. But maybe it is a contest of some sort to get water for nothing.
