duff laptop battery sorted 4th Jul 17 at 11:37 PM
My laptop battery has dropped to 0% and will not charge is there anything I can do to restart it, or do I have to buy a new one.

    Thanks Dave

Might be worth posting in the "Techie stuff" section

My netbook did that a couple of years ago - it worked out easier and cheaper to buy a new netbook than replace the battery. I was so annoyed as I had only had it about 2 years.

Hope you get yours sorted Jambo - it is so frustrating!

Before getting a new one, just check it hasn't stalled by removing it and reseating it. That sometimes works. On the other hand, if it has just suddenly dropped to 0% and seemed okay before it may be the charging circuit on the laptop that has gone, rather than the battery but unless you have another battery you can try or know someone with the same model of laptop it will be difficult to find out without investing in a new battery.

Our business is run on eBay selling second hand laptops and so we source all of our spare parts from other eBay sellers and don't have many problems. We don't get many Vaios or I'd see if we had a spare battery you could try but please don't pay £200 for one, that's a total rip off.

I've been having problems with my battery and brightness problems since upgrading to Windows 10 new creators edition several weeks ago. Now I keep getting messages saying battery is week and needs replacing.

Have looked on Ebay and prices do seem reasonable compared to prices at the manufacturer's site (Lenovo). Trouble is that you need to remove the bottom plate of laptop completely, and although there are youtube videos, it seems very fiddly.

Trying to persuade my son to fix it, but he isn't confident. Glad your PC is working again.
