£12k looks a good price to me.

But a list price of £20,610?
I presume the equipment tally is high.

I think its well enough spec'd but a list price of north of £20K is "optimistic" to say the least.

There seems to be an easy £4K of discount available for a brand new one

I dont know why manufacturers dont put more realistic list prices on cars.

    1) Because they have to have an RRP
    2) Why do people put a price on a house?

Not a criticism of your comment, just a thought.

They are that far removed from reality now though its banal.

I can understand a bit of movement but 20% is now commonplace.

Likewise, with your house analogy, you tend not to be able to negotiate the price on a new house. Its generally a fixed price (plus extras). A preowned house / car, then yes, its down to agreement between what the owner thinks its worth and what a buyer is prepared to pay.

    +1

A "good" car could be something at £1,000. It doesnt have to be expensive.

If i was looking a hot hatch and had £1,000 to spend then a Clio 172 would be a good (great!!) car.

You dont have to spend a fortune to get a good car. Likewise its subjective.

That's odd as we did negotiate the price of our new house, successfully.
