Shared equity remortgage 17th Jun 17 at 12:14 PM
Is it possible to remortgage to a different provider if you have a shared equity mortgage? I have contacted several providers today, including ones who do offer shared equity mortgages, but when I explain that I have one with a different provider they tell me they don't currently offer Sh. Eq on a remortgage basis. Why is this? Does anyone else have experience of remortgaging with a sh eq mortgage? I would be grateful for any advice/information from the MSE community.

Are you remortgaging to consolidate the equity loan or are you trying to find a lender which will accept the loan remaining in place where you will obtain a deed of postponement from the second charge holder?

Which shared equity scheme? Presumably it's not HTB so HomeBuy Direct, FirstBuy or a developer-specific scheme?
