This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

    Morning

Well guess who's up again at at stupidly early o clock *sighs*.

Just put the kettle on and am posting this whilst it boils.

Nothing of interest to report, I need to go food shopping today but it may be postponed until tomorrow, I will see how tired I am later.

Hester or should I say Master Helmswoman Hester, glad the course went well with no extra charge for the added excitement or aiding and abetting the local constabulary

Right kettle is boiled and I need a fortifying cup of Rosie Lee.

Have a good day and take care all x

Morning all, I woke up to go to the loo and then couldn't get back to sleep so have been up since 4.

Work today and tomorrow, how I thought I wasn't working tomorrow is a mystery. This is why I'm hoping to change my work pattern so that I do the same days each week, 3 days a week rather than 7 spread over two weeks.

It looks as though it will be a sunny day, I've washing ready to go out.

Hope everyone is ok, and that you all have a good day

    Morning everyone

karcher - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Blue sky and sun breaking through, already warm, washing ready to go out on the line. I'll water the plants then too. Yesterday was a glorious day once the sun appeared at 9am ish, today looks very much the same.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was an easy fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, ice cream for dessert, tonight we'll be having pork steaks in gravy, potatoes and veg.

Work yesterday was busy in the morning but then did slow down in the afternoon, but I had a couple of difficult/sad cases but I did the best I could in the situation. Working all day again today, this afternoon is the extra hours, when I finish this afternoon I'm on days' off until next Monday, and we're going away on Friday until Sunday, not too far and with good friends, which we're both really looking forward to.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

The sky looks brighter than it has for a week though showers are in the air.

I've off to Oban for two three hour meetings which is not good. I teach two hours a week on two courses yet the meetings take three hours...

That'll be my day. I hope everyone has a peaceful and happy Wednesday.

    Morning All

It has been raining but it's given up for now - can't be much left up there!

Nothing much happening here, no swimming this morning. I'm going to visit a friend after work, she should have here DGS with her which is always a laugh.

Well done HH, hope you gave those handcuffs back.
    Thinking of you Nelski.

Have a good day, take care. XX

    Morning everyone,

Thank you for starting us off karcher

Hugs to those that are unwell or having a difficult time at the moment.

I had a nice trip out yesterday to a local market town to meet my sister in law. I bought my niece a gift for her 21st birthday and then we had a wander around the shops and I got a couple of gifts for friends that have birthdays this month. I am pleased to have got those sorted.

Yesterday was a lovely warm day and quite sunny although it did cloud over towards the mid-afternoon. The forecast is good for the rest of the week, I do hope they are right.

I am off for my first ever Aldi shop later. I haven’t been able to shop there before because it is over 2 miles and although I am comfortable walking that far I could never have carried the shopping home, and there is no direct bus so it hasn’t really been practical. I am looking forward to being able to get things a lot cheaper than I have been paying.

I need to go and get something for dinner tonight out of the freezer to defrost.

I hope that you all have a good day whatever you are doing.

    Good morning everyone

It's a beautiful sunny morning here today. I am up and dressed as I am off to a new weight watchers meeting that is opening today. I didn't really enjoy slimming world so I am going to try this. I am in a good frame of mind to keep dieting as I tried on a pair of jeans in a smaller size to see how far I had to go to get them on and they actually fit .

DD14 is going to school today hooray, I hope she has a good day. I am going to the school tomorrow for a meeting which I am actually dreading but it needs to happen. DD16 has finished school so I will try and mark the occasion somehow. It's a bit hard to think of treating her though as she has been extremely difficult to live with for a while now. I've cut her a lot of slack as she has been doing her exams but honestly her behaviour has been vile . Good job I love her .

I got bored yesterday so I took DD14 out on the bus to Appledore to get a bit of fresh air. We sat on the quay with an ice cream whilst people watching. It was really lovely to sit in the sunshine looking over the water. I wish we could have taken Max with us but he gets terribly travel sick in a car and I didn't want to risk it on the bus.

I'm making chicken skewers for tea as I accidently left a pack of chicken out to defrost yesterday when I was looking for something else . Oh well, I'm sure they will be nice. I will do some baked potatoes and salad to go with them.

Well that's all my waffle for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

good morning chums and another beautiful day here today.bright and sunny, just how I like it and not too hot.
This morning I have my youngest DD popping in after her physio for a cuppa then we will whizz down to Faversham as I want to have a chat to the garage about my delivery date for my new car, and if we have time nip in and see my sis-in-law. This afternoon I have an AGM at U3A which should be interesting to see who gets voted on the committee this year as our president is retiring.

Came 3rd in quiz last night but had a great night all the same, our team have a visiting quiz night on Friday at a local sports centre. We like to go out now and again from the pub, and this one is for a local charity group,we always enjoy those.

Two more exams for our 'enry today ,then one on Friday and he is done
Right must get the kettle on I'm dying for a cuppa

have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

    Morning all,

Awake bright and early but I spoiled it by going back to sleep. Still freaked out by the bar of soap thing but if it saves me from being kicked in his sleep, I'll suffer it.

Did I tell you about my recent experiences with milk baths? No I don't think I did...Maybe another time.

Got my little whirlwind later. It will be my last scheduled childcare day with him a apart from school holidays as my daughter is on maternity leave from Friday and he's at school in September. How time flies!

Hound was up bright and early....Her Sister hasn't stired.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning

So very sad to see the ongoing incident in London I have a horrible feeling there are going to be a lot a fatalities if they have only recorded 30 taken to hospital. You can just hope lots did manage to get out

Jackie O thank you for your post on Monday. I am not going to give her any more hassle I promise l but I will keep the food arriving so that she will have some healthy or even just calorific choices I wish you lived nearer I would take you round for some sage advice

Book club night was real good fun ...the host put on a spectacular range of tapas and lots of prosecco was drunk ....somewhere in amongst I seem to remember a brief discussion on the book

Gorgeous day here so wash on and will be on the line very soon.
Hope you all have a good day and thoughts with everyone in London again

    Good morning everyone
Seems bright and breezy out there this morning, and I think the forecast is quite good.
We went over to the caravan yesterday to return some stuff that I'd washed after our trip last week, then called at M&S on the way home (there' s an out of town shopping centre on our route)
I looked at some trousers, and there were some nice t shirts but I didn't buy anything, I hate trying things on, ridiculous I know. Not that I really needed anything, but you know how it is - what you want and what you need are often different. The trouble is, if you can call it that, is that I take care of my clothes and they last for ages, so I get tired of them. Hey ho, it's a first world problem!!
Out for lunch with some friends today, and some general pottering.
Hope your day goes well everyone.
PS Elona, you mentioned potato pastry a day or two ago - have you a recipe I could try? thanking you in anticipation.

Dumpling, well done n your weightloss, I wish I could get my mojo back but it's not happening at the moment.

I'm trying to pull myself together because I've been having a very down few days as a result of a number of things. The main thing I think is the horrible virus that has taken three weeks to go but has left me feeling tired and fed up. On top of that is all the horrid things that have been happening recently - those poor people in the tower block, apparently the residents association have been warning for months that there would be a disaster and the HA have done nothing. Finally I have some small family worries which are very first world problems and I must stop stressing about them.

I have the dentist this morning, just a check up so nothing to worry about. I'm trying to decide if I want to replace my last 3 metal fillings with white ones. Cosmetically it's not an issue as they're at the back but healthwise it might be a good idea especially as I seem to be developing allergies to different metals.

Apart from that I will see how I get on with the day, it looks as if it's going to be lovely.

    Morning everyone,

Bright and sunny here in EA, it's set to be a warm one.

I am quite achey today after yesterday's Pilates, they were taking some pictures for the website (did ask permission and I said only if can be at the back!) and they taught an intermediate level so much harder than last week. The instructor did say as it was only my second week I could sit out of some of it but that didn't suit my competitive side at all!
My reward was a good meal out with friends in the evening, lovely food but the pub was very busy with a private party in the garden so service was a bit hit and miss, no matter.
Snoozer am sorry that you are feeling down, it is heartbreaking to read the reports about the fire and what could have been done to prevent it, hope you feel better soon x

Have a good day folks x

    Morning all,

Arrived in work to hear of the terrible news about the flat fire in London. The images are just terrifying and remind me of the scenes at 9/11. Thoughts with all of those effected.

I didn't do too much yesterday evening. I had a healthy dinner and my mum came over to visit for a bit. Really struggled to get out bed this morning for some reason.

Anyway, I've been the gym this morning and I'll go again after work. Can't stay late at work because the internet's down from 6pm so i'm getting kicked out.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Dreadful news about that fire in London, Tower blocks should be demolished, they are far too dangerous in a fire as has been shown by this one.

Hester, hope they were not the pink feather handcuffs!!! and you got them back........... Pleased you have your certificate CHS will be able to sit back and let you steer now..........

Lovely day here another long line of laundry out, but thats the last load for this week, still have the bed linen from Monday to iron but it can wait. Its very pleasant sitting in the kitchen with the back door open. OH is cutting the front grass. I have just been round and watered all the pots in the shade, will do the rest later when the sun has moved round.

I am determined to have water in the garden, we have a very large pot, I now need to source a solar water fountain and price it up.....I also need to think about plants to fill in some spaces in the front. We are going next week to the wood yard to order the rest of the wood for the deep beds and another bag of wood mulch to fill up the paths and the front beds.

Salmon salad for supper tonight, I will cook the salmon and then cool it in the fridge. OH will see if there are more strawberries for tonight.

At our friends yesterday afternoon, they are off tomorrow to Kent to do a children's mission...when they get back its the children's play week on the village green........we enjoyed the chat, Took rhubarb, strawberries and blackberries for them. We came home with two spring cabbage which will eek our veg out nicely.

Time for morning tea, chairs out in the garden, it will be nice to sit out again.

Good morning everyone, thanks to Karcher for starting the thread and hugs to anyone that needs one.
What a dreadful situation in London.

I'm feeling more like it this morning though still a bit fuzzy from the meds and moving cautiously. I'm going to have to have a serious go with the slug pellets as my marigolds and rudibeieka (sp?) have been devastated . I'm also going to have to move my bird table at least until the plants around it have been established as they are being trampled on by the wood pidgeon who frequents the garden. He's really rather lovely and quite tame, he appears to be mateless so seems to hang about with the jackdaws but I feel quite sorry for him as the rest of the pidgeon community are paired off and don't seem to want him..... (I know but I'm a softy )

Hello from a very tired Nan. Could not sleep at all last night and came back downstairs at 3am, watched an episode of the Waltons, then turned over to see the horror of the tower block fire unfold. Those poor people, it is heartbreaking. I went back to bed around 6am and managed to sleep till 9am .
This morning I have stripped the bed and done 3 loads of washing which is drying quite quickly outside. I also cleaned and mopped the outside toilet, it is only used when in the garden or when DH is working in the shed so that no one ( he ) drags mud etc through the kitchen and up the stairs. I have also cleaned the inside of the lounge widow as when the sun shines on it, you can't see out .
Just chilling for a while, then will have to remake the bed. Tea will be sausage roll and chips followed by a leisurely bubble bath and an early night. Hopefully I can get some sleep as we are at dads tomorrow for me to clean inside and DH to finish the garden.
Hugs to all and enjoy the rest of the day.
