I recently put some money in this fund and it has grown rather quickly... does anyone see it as a much riskier fund as opposed to the more typical passive wider funds ? Of course its all focused in Japan, but hard to know if the growth it has seen is as sustainable?

If by a typical passive wider fund, you mean a global index fund, then yes it would be a much riskier fund. A single geography fund lacks the diversification of a global fund.

When did you invest into the fund?

The pound's depreciation has probably had a big positive impact on the performance.
