Dash Cam with instant playback? 4th Jun 17 at 1:17 PM
    Hi,

I'm looking for a dash cam for my Dad. He wants one which has a screen so he can do an instant playback if needed and not have to remove the SD card and then plug it in to the home computer to view the footage

I've been looking at dash cams on Amazon with 4 stars + rating by users and they sound great but then in the comments every time somebody will mention that to view the footage you have to remove the SD card

Why do dash cams have a screen if you can't view the footage?!

If somebody can recommend one with a playback option please do, under £60 and ideally with the SD card included

    Thanks

The screens on most dashcams are so small that they would be next to useless for viewing footage on anyway. I have the Viofo A119 recommended above and have been very happy with it (though have not used the built in screen to view footage back).

Screens are useless and make your windscreen cluttered. Blackvue do an over the cloud stream to your phone using the app. MY blackvue sits in front of my rear view mirror and you can hardly see it.

There are some that are wifi - they connect to your phone and can either use the phone display for aiming the camera on set up, or reviewing footage.

The one I use, DDPAI M6 Plus, has a remote 'shutter' button, when pressed it takes a picture and saves the last 11 seconds of video to your phone (as soon as you connect to it via the app/wifi).

Techmoan web site / youtube site has a lot of good info on Dashcams. Note that there are far better ones available than what the likes of Halfords or Currys sell - many are Chinese 'unbranded' but still beat the ones that are shop sold hands down.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the above mentioned dash cams

I have a Thinkware H50 myself. It doesn't have a screen and is tube like in design. I bought it as I wanted something as discreet as possible. Its now hardwired and sits behind my rear view mirror so is very hard to see

Removing the SD card is fidly though and my dad isn't that tech savvy hence not wanting to remove the SD and view via the programme on the computer
