    Good evening Elite.

Hoping everyone is warm, happy and well. Hugs to those not so.

Apologies for being AWOL all week. Last week of term at school has been so hectic! But I'm still loving the job.

Im a board guide on Pie Making Moneysaving. I'm a volunteer to help the pie production & consumption run smoothly. I can help merge tastes and fillings. Any pies made are mine & are not those of other Moneysavingexperts. Im a board guide not a qualified baker and as such do not make every type of pie. If you spot a quiche or flan please report it.

Which is the best location for train station or cruise ports please, the Premier Inn City Centre or Travelodge Southampton Centre? TIA

Edit: Or I can just pay a few quid more and stop at macdonald botley park hotel & spa, which is very nice, but last time I managed to blag a free coach to the port, not sure how much a taxi would cost from there.

The new travelodge central is almost town center as well so there is not much in it - also Greggs is in the street behind so dont eat breakfast in. No free wi fi though and you cant book in until 3.
ALso worth looking at Ibis budget - only refurbished a few years ago, clean, tidy, good showers, free unlimited wi fi
It might be possible to get cashback or a discount code for travelodge or Ibis -ibis budget pay between £37 and £60.

Have you not booked your night before hotel yet?

Next years hotel is proving more difficult. I got the room rate you can cancel in the hope that prices might drop. Its for a mid week night in March, not half term but for reasons unknown premier in is nearly £80 Ibis budget is £52 - the last time I looked the room rate had gone up rather than down - have to keep an eye on this

I cant get the Westquay one, its fully booked. Not bothered about wifi as get it on my phone, and wont be booking in before 3 as going to have some time in Borough Market in London on the way down.
Think I am going to go for macdonald botley park hotel & spa, as I have found it for £61 which is the cheapest of all the above options, taxi may be a little more, but it has a lovely beer garden to sit in and relax on the evening.

Well taxi from the Spa is about £25, so might knock that idea on the head!

I would expect them to agree.

So back to the original ones, airport/central Premier inn. Airport saves a taxi from the train station, but a longer taxi in the morning. Or travelodge, but I dont usually find them as nice as PI.

    What about Jurys inn?

We were there last August, nice views over the park - usually taxi prices about £6 from the station and another £6 in the morning to the port.
