I picked these Damsons from the hedgerow.....I'm just wondering what to do with them other than Chutney/Jam

It's going to be Damson cheese unless anyone has any other ideas...

This doesnt apply where I live now. Think it stopped about 2 years ago.

It can indeed vary. And things can get better as it goes along. My DD had to be driven 4 miles to the nearest pick-up point for the school coach for about 3 terms, but as a few more started to go there, the coach extended its route and conveniently stopped outside our place for the remaining years she was there.

I also wonder what happens nowadays when you live close to the border between two LAs. When the 'nearest' school could well be in another authority.

There is something called the Greenwich ruling which means a school can't discriminate directly by borders (though they can declare catchment areas - known as the Rotherham ruling). If you have no school and are relying on the council to find a place, they are unlikely to be able to allocate you a place in a neighbouring area, so then your nearest suitable school will be within your area.

A bit of a pet topic for me.....

Thanks for the Covent Garden Vouchers, Mum likes these and I am too mean to pay full price not really she can have anything she wants But free is good.
Didn't get notified as always use yopmail and funnily enough my first name seems to be Covent and surname Garden.
Have just printed a few, well dated 30/09/17, which I think is better than normal?
Dark green ink has just gone a lovely turquoise, so will have to do the dreaded job of filling up ink.
