However, msm says Aldi has Brioche Rolls at 85p. Whoops anywhere may be cheaper.

    Well after all that...

They bought five curries, fortunately four of them different so got eight items... and it ended up with 9p as the milk isn't 10% cheaper than W.

1 items on your receipt qualify for comparison Asda waitrose
    1x ASDA Chicken Korma (400g) £2.50 N/A
    1x Kingsmill Tasty Thick Wholemeal Bread (800g) £1.00 N/A
    1x Roberts Bakery Thick White Bread (800g) £1.19 N/A
    1x ASDA Semi Skimmed Milk (4pt) £0.99 £1.00
    2x ASDA Tandoori Chicken Masala (400g) £5.00 N/A
    1x ASDA Chicken Jalfrezi (400g) £2.50 N/A
    1x ASDA Chicken Tikka Masala (400g) £2.50 N/A
    1x ASDA Chicken Tikka (410g) £1.50 N/A
Comparison total (compared products only) £0.99 £1.00
    cheaper +£0.01

"It looks like it is nearly all curries - shall I reach under the hedge and pick up this receipt, is it 8 items?"
Shop is 8p against T and 7p against M - a sliding scale of doomness.

    Vs M

    1x KTC Superfine Gram Flour (2kg) £2.65 £2.00

Why do they have to buy two? I see individual price of £2.68 on receipts and then they always go for 2 for £4:

    2x Kellogg's Coco Pops (510g) £4.00 £4.00

Still, not 10% cheaper than M but one box would be better for me. V. small box for £2 competitor price - higher than the price I'd expect on the larger box.

Don't put this on an M comp. if you are buying A's 2 for £3 mbuy offer as it highly likely compares against M at £2 each:

ASDA Really Creamy Raspberry Pavlova Ice Cream (900ml)
However, they bought me a single one so I got 20p from it (works out more expensive per tub obviously).

Grapes were bought on "reduced to clear" (main superstore). Good filler vs M only - much more expensive comparison everywhere else (but all the comps. had already lost significantly so this alone didn't kill the shop):

    1x ASDA Grower's Selection Seedless Green Grapes (500g) £0.75 N/A

I believe that M does not currently have 500g pack size (or any within 10% weight). The risk of them bringing in a 500g pack is, I think, low so this should continue to be N/A. Unless M changes pack size, its standard range grapes aren't currently within the weight range. I have only seen 500g grapes in M, which did happen to be Green, on one or two weeks throughout six years of price collection - on that one occasion, they came in as a 99p special into one of my Ms and didn't compare. They manage to get grapes far cheaper than me in any event.

My timings look like they might be almost spot on for 2 cars needing petrol over the weekend or possibly Friday....that should help to boost the S spend and mean that I can partake in the boost coupons without the need to purchase groceries that impact frugal spending month.

I dont really like S for food shopping...no idea why really but I do like to have a bash at the petrol when it's boost time!...in £10.01 chunks.....
frugal October...£37.39 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

But I do like when they buy snack pack grapes at two thirds of the price of that reduced product.

    1x ASDA Grower's Selection Snack Pack Grapes (150g) £0.50 N/A

It seems this person would be happy to get 225g instead of 500g.
The snack pack is the opposite of the 500g green grapes, is N/A against everywhere except M and is returning at twice the cost there.

    (((x))) LEJC

So sorry I missed your birthday Poppy, hope you had a lovely day

We got back late last night from quite simply the most extraordinary, amazing holiday ever. It wasn't at all MSE and even though we started saving for it almost from the day we got married we still feel wickedly extravagant

Hope you are able to sort something out MKS. Our next door neighbour's daughter works for Monarch and mentioned a couple of weeks ago that she thought they were in big trouble. She's close to retirement so won't be too badly affected but of course lots of people will be

Back to reality for me now. All weight loss from the last couple of months has been wiped out in a week lol, so healthy eating from now on - and as I type Chris Evans had just said that it's National Chocolate Week next week

I'm visiting a homeless Project at the weekend. They've just had their shower facilities refurbished, so would like to talk them plenty of shower gel, shampoo and hand wash. I know various varieties are working but are any particularly good value please, as I'd like to take as much as I can carry on the train?

    Afternoon folks

MKS - sorry about you caught up in Monarch closure, but glad to hear you have managed to rebook

    Good morning

    Hope everyone is well

Thanks so much to bubbs and 3dogs and all that contributed to the list as I managed to do a couple shops yesterday and it was very handy to be able to recall the list as I'm certainly out of practice xx

I've been up most of the night on and off thinking about my dear friend, in April this year she lost her two year old dog as she ate a toad and died from a swelling/shock. She took the plunge and got another dog and she is now 5 months old but had been poorly and was rushed in and they think she has meningitis and swelling on the brain and they are not sure if she will make it . How cruel can life be, this family love their pets so so much and treat them so well it seems unfair x
