HP photosmart printer - prints wrong colour 17th May 17 at 11:15 PM
My HP photosmart printer has decided to now print in either Red or Brown instead of black.

I have tried to dismantle it to clean the printhead, got as far as the last 4 screws but had nothing small enough to get them out.

Anyone any ideas how I might solve this?

Prints all the other colours fine

Have you checked the ink levels? Does it have a dedicated black ink cartridge?

Is there an option, when black cartridge has run out, to continue printing by mixing other colours to make black? I had this on my previous Epson.

Are you using genuine ink or third-party stuff ?

HP printers usually have a 'clean cartridge' procedure that can be run from printer properties, perhaps under 'services'.
