Where to sell rare/specialist books 17th May 17 at 8:09 PM
Hi folks, I have some seemingly rare books that I want to sell but I'm unsure as to where to.

The topics are very specific, ie architectural books.

There are only 4 of one particular book on Amazon and the asking price is over £800.

Where would be my best bet? Is it worth trying eBay?

    Thanks

Step 1, try and find out how much the book sells for rather than how much some sellers ask for it.

If its genuinely likely to sell for hundreds theres nothing lost having a go on ebay as a buy it now at a price you're happy with.

Wait until they have a special offer on fees to avoid the 10% selling cost.

If it is an expensive book then try a book dealer, there was a thread on here recently where one of the regulars sent a book to a dealer and is offering the share the name of the dealer if others are interested.

    Thanks folks.

There are no sold listings on eBay other than one in the USA which was about £250 I think.

My worry on Amazon was that some chancer put it up for £800+ and others have followed suit.

I can't find much else about the book or any sales otherwise sadly.

Again it only shows listed books not sold but it covers a fair few sites.

Then check this thread out that I mentioned previously>

Bookfinder is also useful as it searches worldwide.

musicmagpie also. See if they can price it up.

I was after a certain book a while back and as you have found there are sellers that put stupid figures. Over £80 on Amazon in my case, yet checking ebay they were selling for under £10. I mamanged to pick one up for £6 inc P&P.
