    there may be a few wee errors here as I had to type it all out as it wouldn't let me paste it in...

    As you can see, it's BAD... How did it get so bad?
    When I left home and got my home of me own I thought I was doing great. Single lad, I had a good job, good income, social life etc.
    I had the mortgage with the bank, credit card with the bank, then a loan for my first car...then other loans... and so it began to build up.
    After a while I managed to clear the loans and the cards and was able to keep myself in the black.
    Eventually, I met a nice lassie, we got married, had kids and started to build up debts again... Loans for holidays, cars, furniture etc. Used Credit cards and the bank overdraft for emergencies... we thought we were doing alright.

    I rented out my old pad, the rent covered the mortgage.
    Then out of the blue I lost my job...
    I lost the the old place cos my tenant moved out, got married and set up on her own. I couldn't get another tenant who stayed long enough and paid the rent to keep it going... I lost it... repossessed.

    My marriage fell apart, I left my family and the family home... had a total meltdown/breakdown.
    I ended up homeless, going from friend to friend, whoever would put me up for a bit, let me have somewhere to sleep.
    This went on for a few years, until I was fortunate enough to land another job. The friend I was staying with encouraged me to apply for a flat with the local council and eventually I got one.

    I began to get back on my feet again, furnishing my wee place with second-hand furniture and other basic household items from the local charity shops. I don't have anything much (the old laptop I'm using is held together with duct tape and is veerrrryyyy sllloooooow...).

    Now, i am being chased for my debts, it's time to face up to the mess that I have made of my life and wipe out the debt and become and stay debt free....

    This is the lovely IPA that I have been raving about

    Tastes as good as it looks too
    ... and yes I am sampling it a little earlier than the initial Drink by date... My Guru's of brew said it would be alright and they were... right...

    I've decided to get another 25L fermentation bucket and do a tandem brew on both the Stout and the IPA. By doing one and then the other a couple of days apart will mean that both will be ready in time for Crimbo / Hogmanay
    How's Mr SA's brew coming along?

    Aye, there is a brilliant wee Home Brew and Wine Making store on the Dumbarton Road in Glasgow called GlenBrew or The InnHouse Brewery Co. They have a website so if you Google em you'll find em...
    They sell EVERYTHING to do with making your own Beer or Wine...
    Also, Wilko's has a good range of kit and products for Home Brew and I believe they are the only mainline High Street retailer that supports Home Brew and Wine Making. The Stout that I am going to be brewing is a Wilko one. It is very MSE, as I have saved a fortune by making my own. Brew kit prices vary from £12 upwards... most expensive brew I have purchased has been the IPA at £22.95. However, you get approx. 40 pints of brew, so, from a £12 kit it costs you 30p a pint... and my IPA works out about 57-58p a pint... Compare that to the cost of a bottle / can from supermarket or even a pint in the pub... MAJOR savings. Don't get me wrong, I love a decent pint in the pub and I don't mind paying for a quality brew, however the taxes levied on the breweries are what is pushing the prices up in the pubs. I mean, if I can obtain the ingredients to brew 40 pints at 30p a pint, how much can a big brewery do it for? Ok, of course, I know they have their overheads, salaries and bills etc. I know someone in my profession who is lucky enough to work in the brewing industry, I know roughly what their cost of production is per pint... it's a bit less than mine, until the overheads are applied...

    Happy St Andrews Day

    Feeling a bit better this morning and hoping this lurgy does one pronto...

    Managed to complete all of the items on my wee list from last night, really pleased with that;
    Kit prepped up and ready for next brew
    Figures checked and adjusted where necessary
    New BIG pot acquired and a few other wee utensils
    Chatted with pal

    So, today, another busy one
    Today's wee list;
    Achieve an NSD
    Start the second brew off this evening
    Get two of the Crimbo Cakes to their recipients
    Keep fighting the lurgy

    Wherever you are and whatever you're doing have a good one

    PS We had snow this morning Not a lot, just a dusting but it was nice to see that white blanket this morning...
