    After getting totally cheesed of with SP we decided to go back to British Gas, after leaving them back in March 2013.

    This seems to have opened a can of worms:
    • 29th March 2017 - received an email saying that BG had cancelled my direct debit. I took to twitter as I was out an about and pm'd them to ask if I should be worried that the switch to them was wasn't going ahead OK. They confirmed that everything was fine and as of 2nd April I would be their customer.

    • 15th April 2017 - received an email "Your final bill reminder" stating that I owed them 143.43 for my gas with my OLD account number

    • 18th April 2017 - I contacted customer services via telephone who could only see details of my new account on the system - they told me to send an email into customer services with my issue.

    • 18th April 2017 - received a reply to my email saying that it was correct and that they were sorry that I received an email (!?) and they would send the bill through within 10 days - WHAT?

    • 18th April 2017 - I have replied asking how on earth we have got 4 years down the line with me alledgedly owing them this much money and they have not once got in touch in all that time, we haven't moved, changed email addresses or telephone numbers in that time, so they cannot claim that they have tried.

    I have also contacted my bank today and they confirmed that British Gas had indeed cancelled the direct debits for my old gas and electricity accounts on 29th March 2017 - so IF I owed them money, surely they could have taken it at any point during the last 4 years?

    I've not received a reply from my latest email as of yet - but has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm not sure what I can do about it - it just seems to be so ridiculous.

    Any advice gratefully received!
