    Weekly Flylady Thread 17th April 2017 17th Apr 17 at 9:14 AM
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. Its been lovely to see some de-lurkers and some newcomers; do please post even if it's just to say 'list completed'

Thank you Natty for last week's thread

It is your responsibility to read the forum rules, please follow them on this thread as Flylady has been here a LONG time and is a fabulous support and resource for lots of us.

The idea is that even if you are really busy you don't need to fall off the wagon!

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
    WM ~ Washing machine
    TD ~ Tumble dryer
    SC ~ Slowcooker
    BM ~ Breadmaker
    DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
    DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
    OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
    NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
    ETA ~ Edited to add
Gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up! All credit to AnW's Mum for this one
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!

Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al - supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!!

Sorry to have forced you to have a sit-down, Dizzy, but as you will see I did not finish everything on my list today.

    - SW - I managed to stay the same from when we weighed in 10 days ago (after the first week of our holiday, so had already gained 3 lb by then), and DH only put on 1lb over the same period (having gained 6 lb in the first week), so pretty good considering that we've been way off plan. Despite the length of my flying list, I stayed to group, so caught up with news from lots of friends and had a cuddle with an absolutely gorgeous 6-week-old baby boy
    - sort out my 2017-18 ISA and regular savings account, taking DH with me to make sure that he also opens one of the latter - all done though I had a 35 min wait at the building society
    - do WMx3 (one already started) and take advantage of today's beautiful weather to hang out - managed to hang out just one load because of needing to mow the lawn
    - fold and put away aired washing - done
    - S&S bathroom - nope
    - S&S kitchen - sort of
    - coordinate diaries with DH - nope, but it can wait until Thursday. I did find the details of DH's horse piddle appointment, though
    - write several emails and make a number of long overdue phonecalls to friends and family - not yet, but I may send a couple of emails before bed time. On the other hand,
    I might not!

    - mow the lawn - done, including digging out about 20 dandelions
    - tidy the yard area outside the back door to make more space in the sunny part - half done. Found a drowned mouse (or was it a small rat? ) in a deep pot full of rainwater and a wasp building a nest in the roof of the brick built store. Both disposed of!
    - move a couple of slabs to fill the space occupied by the old wooden compost bin and make room for the new plastic one - decided the slabs were too well laid to move, so have moved other things round and covered up the space for the missing slab with the plastic tool store (which has a built-in base)
    - shred cardboard ready for this year's compost -
    not ready for that yet

    - set up the two halves of the old bin to use as raised beds for veg - they are in place and I have found some weed-suppressing membrane to line them, to stop the soil falling out
    - buy some grow bags and mix contents with last year's compost for the raised beds - deferred until Thursday
    - start tidying the borders and finding spaces for the plants I bought on holiday - have dug out a couple of large blue geranium clumps to make room for new plants and pulled up some weeds

I also slept for 2 hours this afternoon because DH didn't wake me after 45 min as I had requested
I do feel better for having got some fresh air

    (((Hugs))) to FFP.
Piggers, sorry about OH's job situation - it must be so frustrating. Will your DS be standing in the election?
HB, sorry to hear about Devil Cat.
Safe journey home, Froddy - and please post pics as soon as you are able!

    Goodnight all x

Morning all. Hugs to FFP and for HB and Devilcat.

I should have listened to my body yesterday and rested. As it was, I didn't want to waste a day off, so carried on, and then spent all night awake in agony, and then passed out in the bathroom this morning with the pain. I'm such a wuss. Painkillers now kicking in.

So no flying here today. I am doing my treasurer accounts, sorting an online shop and just dropping the dogs off at the groomer shortly.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

    Morning all,

Where have I been again? Who knows, but certainly not flying. I resolve to be here more, the house is suffering for it.
Lynne goodness me, that must have been really scary, you are ordered to rest! I hope you are feeling better. Likewise Jazee, do nothing!

I'm going to do what I can from the lists, starting now. DD1 has her friend here until tomorrow (yikes, how did I agree to this, I am not good with overnight guests, especially children. It makes me very anxious and I don't sleep), but I'm just going to let them entertain themselves today while I clean.

    Onwards!

PS Piggers good to see you back.

Thanks for the lists -All looking ok here at the moment. I did have window open but it's closed again now as it's quite chilly again today.

Started sorting through some summer clothes and have put some for charity bag.

Cuppa time and then out with dog.

    Where did the morning go??
Jazee -squeeze onto the flylady sofa and stay there until you feel rested. And yes I am nagging!

Not a lot ticked off from the list today so far, apart from HHI and dewebbing the lounge. I broke my feather duster so had to screw it back together - and there's a sentence I never thought I'd hear myself say!
Kitchen and dining room finally vacuumed. Likewise the inside of my car, hopefully ready to sell it
DD vacated her bed so I quickly stripped it while her back was turned and the WM is just finishing now, ready to go out on the line. The bedding on the line, not the WM..
Quick lunch, then I'm off to meet DH to go look for a car.
Oohh - WM done. Off I go... Catch you later.

Thanks Jazee. You're not a wuss, you're trying to do too much, so, rest please along with Lynne on the Flylady Sofa. I'll send a Chippendale round later to bring a G&T with a large slice of lime and lots of ice for each of you.

    Hi Greent! Welcome back.

Devil cat was very much more like his old self this morning and is now curled up on the sofa next to me while I deal with paperwork and so on, having been on my lap for an hour which slowed me down a bit. I need to pot up about a dozen plants and zip the vacuum cleaner around.

Shower rescrubbed, there were still some mouldy bits.. freezer partially rejiggled.. I am so going through that more thoroughly next time we come.. There is stuff in there I have seen in time after time.. clearly it doesn't get used because it is still there!! Did I mention I unblocked the vacuum cleaner which had slurped up a hair clip at some point and then wet floor grot so it was utterly useless.. it now clears the floor, I did express a bit of concern to OH that his mum might not be able to use it now it has suction.. :/

Anyway.. I'm going home so can disappear for another couple of months.

Taling my poorly Squeak and my conjunctivitis home.. :/

    Afternoon all,

The forecast is dire here for the rest of the week so we've taken the decision to come home early. Not ideal but kids will be climbing the walls if we can't get out (as will we) and at least if it's rubbish weather at home we have all their toys, craft bits etc to use.

Have to admit I'm looking forward to them going back to school / Pre-school on Monday I've heard 'but Mummmmmeeeeeee' more times then I care to recount.

    Hugs all round xx

    Welcome back minniemousesmumy and greent.
Added encouragement for the sicklings to sit still and supervise the rest of us.
Small bits of miscellaneous flying for me today, nothing great.
    Wudupa.
    Filled bird feeder.
    Wiped a few kitchen surfaces.
    Checked greenhouse plants.
Finished, checked and emailed a report.
Rang phone company yet again to see if they plan to unblock my phone any time this century.
Wiped down surfaces of new shiny car as DUST was settling on the dashboard......how dare it?
Went to uni, started another report while waiting for a student to turn up for assessment. He forgot. Drove home again.
Did a bit of holiday research on cottages in Cornwall.
    Went to dance class.
    Back on another report.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

Morning ladies - nice to see some old faces returning to the nest

Had a funny old day yesterday which started with an early morning phonecall to DH's cousin to check up on him, as his GF was in hospital with pancreatic problems caused by gallbladder inflammation. He was (supposedly) looking after their two small boys. Turns out he took them to his brothers and left them there without milk or clean clothes. His brother and my DH work together, so I'd been given the heads-up that all was not well.

I hope I've persuaded him to go to the doctors as I think he is depressed. GF is having a head-fit from her hospital bed and threatening to come home, so it's a bit jangly here.

Blew off some steam on a mountain climb walk with a friend yesterday with her two boys and mine. One small stinging nettle accident, horse poo poking with sticks (boys!) and I got caught short and had to tiddle in the undergrowth, but otherwise it went well. Boys in bed for 7pm, which is unheard of and I collapsed onto the sofa, cream-crackered.

My hip kept me awake most of the night and I'm struggling this morning, but have taken some anti-inflammatories, so will be up and at 'em soon. In a while. After my cuppa.....

Did do an hour of ironing yesterday and one half of the kitchen. I'm afraid I closed the door on the microwave after a brave but foolish inspection.

Hope your phone gets sorted today Narc0 - what an annoying situation

Oh, and Valli? Pour your gin in my glass....I'm only on Day 3064 of the Easter break and there's still a looooonng way to go...

Morning all. Welcome returners. Hugs to those who need them.

A no fly zone here again today. I will get dressed and wash the breakfast dishes. I think DH was hinting that some ironing needs to be done, we shall see.

Will be getting creative on a craft project for WI while I can't do much else. It will be judged next week haha.

    Have a great day everyone.
