Make 10 a day April 2017 - everybody most welcome to join 31st Mar 17 at 7:21 AM
    Hello and welcome everybody

This is the 116th month of this challenge, which was first started by Batgirl, in September 2007.

Thanks to Batgirl for starting it, lynnejk, Rawdinosaur, Emmaglet, Nat21luv, Monkeynut, Sweetpeas, Purpleroses, JesaRose, MizMir for keeping the thread going.

I know this first post is long, but please read as it give tips on how this challenge works. Some of the content has changed

If you're new to the challenge don't be scared - here's how it works:

The aim of this challenge is to make 10 extra a day everyday for the month. A lot of people think this is impossible but it can and has been done, over and over. If you feel 10 is too much why not start at 5 or if you're brave join those who aim for 20 a day! Anything extra you make is great so set whatever target you think you can manage.

It also doesn't have to be 10 each and every day - some days you make more and some days you make less, but aim for 300 extra at the end of the month.

The idea is that everyone posts how they are making extra money and these shared ideas help all of us to learn new ways to help cut debt or earn/save money.

    What cannot be added:
    Wages from your main job

    What can be added:
    Overtime
    Income from a second job
    Daily clicks
    Interest
    Vouchers
    Mystery shopping
    And much, much more.

This board moves pretty quickly, so be sure to subscribe and read it regularly. Below are some ideas to get you started and a great place to read when you're in need of inspiration.

    Sell your old books/DVDs/CDs/games here:
    Amazon.co.uk, play.com, webuybooks, zapper, CEX

Ebay - a place to sell anything and everything.

Gumtree, Preloved, cquot, ebid, craigslist, vivastreet, netmums.com, trade-it , Friday ad, priceminster - these are all places you can sell items too.

Survey sites - mysurvey and pinecone, prolific academic tend to be the best but there are many more it really depends on you finding the ones that work best for you - toluna, harris poll, valued opinions etc

also join Topcashback and Quidco - type in surveys in the search engine and some will pay you to join up with them.

Sealed Pot Challenge 2016 - basically you put your change into a jar over the year so in December you should have a nice pot of money to help

Mobile phone to recycle? try Martin's mobile recycling comparison site first to see where you may get the best deal!

Music Magpie - have cds/dvds you haven't been able to sell at carboots or online. Try your luck here. Is you do sell your albums/dvds be sure to go via quidco to get a few more pennies

etsy and folksy - If you enjoy making crafts why not have a go at selling them on etsy or folksy. They've been getting increasingly busier each year.

Collect Boots points while shopping online.

Don't forget to search for your online shop at nectar.com before you buy, and earn nectar points for buying online, including ebay.

Trying to find other ways to make money? Check out the Boost Your Income board. It is full of ideas, including survey companies and product testing.

Want to help someone else out? Sign up through their referral on the referral board, and leave yours, so someone else can do the same for you.

Keep reading for lots more ideas on how to make more money each month.

This month's challenge is to try and make 300 (or any amount of course!) lynnejk is assisting me and will create the challengers list and update it. She will also be answering any questions she can help with and here for general advice. Having been a challenger for a while, she knows her stuff Thank you lynnejk for your help.

Good luck everybody. Remember to post any questions or comments that you have, and let's go on encouraging each other throughout this month.

We can and we will do it. Who's in?

Redeemed 20 of nectar points today so my total is now 20 (I am counting vouchers/points when they are redeemed, not when they are earned).

It doesn't matter really which way you do it so long as you remember not to count them twice

Forgot to mention, received 5 online from MySurvey today. I think that's another survey site I might finish with. The jury's still out on that one though. Have been with them for years but the payouts are quite small.

Having a great week off with the kids, lots of outside adventures.
We discovered a mouse living in our garden wall, any ideas on how to get rid?

Managed to make 13.59 matched betting this evening as my kids are worn out and had an early night.

I've made 24 matched betting...I feel like that's my lot with MB though so might as well make the most of it

194.58 is my total so far. I'm very pleased with this! I never thought little things here and there would add up in this way. Although this challenge has increased my determination to do these surveys/ebaying/MB, I have been doing them anyway and I've realised just how much of a different this will have made to my debt free date.

Thanks for highlighting this to me - I'd never broken it down like this before

    Hiya all

Thanks a million for all the kind words and wishes - you are all such a lovely bunch of 'friends' and I feel soo lucky to 'know' you. It always feels like an extended kind of family on here with all the support and encouragement you all give to one another

I have added you to the challengers' list pretty butterfly (post 34)

I have read back but nothing's sunk in I'm afraid, but great to see some of you doing well. It's lovely to read how motivated you all are and well done so far this month

I might get onto some surveys t/m - if I can stay awake long enough but first I must book some flights for September whilst the offer is still on-going. I'll let you know how I get on.

Meanwhile, hope you all have a money-making Friday. Still ten days to smash those targets folks - I know you can do it

I have been making some money in the background but its been a difficult month with working extra days at the office, easter break and other things going on.

Laptop still loses connectivity so extremely frustrating. DS tells everyone about our laptop problem so much I have had to tell him to stop doing it.

Sorry I have been totally rubbish this month. Hopefully things will get back to a bit more even keel next week and I might manage a long post of things to try and achieve to help in making money!

I must say though, I was trying to find somewhere to recycle some ink cartridges for the cubs and a lot of the sites we used to post about are no longer There seems to be only one or two that recycle ink cartridges. apart from selling empties ebay, although not sure how profitable that is anymore?

anyone have any trusted sites for recycling ink cartridges?

The only mice I won't tolerate are the ones that actually get into the house and the cat often puts paid to them anyway. Failing that I use a humane mouse trap and once caught the mouse is released into the farthest corner of the garden. I'm totally anti-killing, we don't even use pesticides on our fruit and veg. We saw a rat and a baby one in the garden last year but it just disappeared. I know rats spread disease so if there had been a lot of them I'm not sure what OH would have done about them. Mice don't bother us at all though.

It might depend in your case on how big your garden is and how far the wall is from the house itself. We have almost half an acre so there's plenty of room for us and the creatures to live amicably together

On reading back this sounds a bit preachy and holier than thou. Wasn't meant to be, sorry. It's just something I believe strongly in even though I'm totally unreligious. Live and let live and all that.
