    UK Cycling routes/breaks 28th Mar 17 at 6:44 AM
    Hi all

Me and my partner enjoy cycling (easy stuff, not mountain biking!) and im looking for nice areas of the country to take our bikes to for a short break. We've done the tarka trail a few times, so something like that would be perfect. Estuaries seem to be a good option but I can't find any. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

I too only like easy (relatively flat ) rides.
    I can recommend
    - the track around Carsington Reservoir (about 8 miles)
    - High Peak trail (Parsley Hay to Cromford) but stop/start at Middleton Top. The climb out of Cromford is very steep
    - Monsal trail - starts in Bakewell
    - Manifold Trail
All these cycle routes are off road and in Derbyshire

    Hope this helps

Oh and yes the route from Dawlish to Exmouth which part road/ part off road. It goes up and around the River Exe estuary :-)

What about a Scottish Island? Theres Isle of Cumbrae, well know for their cycling because it's 10.5 miles round and you can cycle to the top of the Island www.millport.org http://www.cottages.com/cottages/island-hideaway-uk5318 or for something more challenging there is the Isle of Arran http://www.auchrannie.co.uk/ 55miles around. Hope you find something you enjoy

Where are you from? I would definitely consider getting a caravan in Scotland somewhere and doing a proper wild week, the scenery can be epic, though you'll have hills and midges to deal with I'm sure.

Torridon, Perthshire, Skye, Arran. I wouldn't come all the way up for Cumbrae though!
