Has a prize provider ever impressed you? 18th Mar 17 at 6:36 PM
On Wednesday I was inboxed (FB) by Glutafin that I had won a box of their select Multipurpose White mix. A sizable box arrived this morning with the post containing not only the prize of the mix but included
    * Loaf of Glutafin bread
    *A big box of pasta
*A box of Schar New Viennese biscuits
*A box of Schar Bourbon Creams
    * 3 snack size bags of Cornflakes
Those on a free from diet know our food isn't cheap so I rarely buy it (not that I minded all the time, it helps the diet!) So winning free from goodies is great treat for me when it happens. The added extras to my prize are great and I can't wait to tuck in! I have bought from them before and Schar and Glutafin products are great quality so I know I will enjoy them (I've stashed the biscuits though, I 'm not sharing!) I messaged them a big thank you this morning. I know it may seem a little prize to some but It's a big enough stash to last me to the end of the month at least and the retail value is way beyond my non essential budget.

So I was wondering, Has a prize provider ever impressed you? How?
*Also my apologies if this has already been asked, I tried a search.

It's happened to me two or three times - I won a dress from Henri Lloyd but missed the FB message. When I realised I grovelled and apologised, the manager of our local branch dropped it off on his way home that evening. I won a bog standard golf driver from Lynx in January, when she rang to arrange delivery, I said I wanted to give it to my husband, she chatted to him and he got a brilliant upgrade which has improved his game no end!

Not really. I've been lucky enough to win quite a few comps but i've always got what I won with 1 exception, no more, no less.

The exception was the Ibiza holiday I won (which i'm taking in May). When the dates were all confirmed and it was all booked, we were actually given half board accomodation instead of bed and breakfast. When I checked the hotels website, they gave us only offers half board and all inclusive they don't have a bed & breakfast option. So it wasn't the prize provider going out of their way to do something nice, it was the cheapest option for that hotel

It saves us money as we won't have to buy as much food, however the hotel is literally the opposite end of the island from the airport so the money we're saving on food is going to have to pay to get us to the hotel when we arrive and back when we leave

I got an extra bottle of baby bio once to say sorry for a prize taking ages to arrive and me having to email several times. Not exactly huge, but it all helps and it was appreciated.

A couple of years ago I had just started chemo for breast cancer.
I received an email saying that I had won a weekend away in York (including rail travel and visitor card) that had to be taken within 6 months. As York was a good distance from us, and as the reaction to chemo is unpredictable, often involving delays, I wrote and asked if I could book the holiday after I had finished all my treatment.

Not only did they allow me to delay the York holiday for as long as needed, but the radio station and the hotel chain involved contacted me later that day to ask if I'd like an extra weekend away in a hotel closer to home which I could book at short notice when I knew how the treatment was going. It moved me to tears that they could be so kind.

So we had a lovely weekend away in Bournemouth between my chemo and radiotherapy, which was just what we needed to celebrate the chemo being done; walking along the sunny beach, just glad to be alive.
And then about 6 months after treatment finished we had a great weekend away in York.

The nicest & kindest prize I've won !

I won a really lovely prize from The Folio Society last year, I have been able to pick a book from their website each month for a year! They arranged for 2 of my choices to be signed by the illustrator as I chose those books because I loved the illustrations so much. There have also been really gorgeous extra goodies in some of my parcels: notebook, diary, postcards, bookmarks, notelets and a tote bag! The books themselves are really special, but everything about the prize has just left me so unbelievably happy and its lasted a whole year!
Many thanks to everyone who posts competitions and works so hard to provide all the answers!
Best wins this year so far: £100 Hobbycraft Voucher, £50 cash, GoPro Camera

A few years ago I won a holiday to Monaco, two nights in the Fairmont Hotel in Monte Carlo flying with Jet2, with a chauffeured limo from Nice airport. Jet2 only flew every three days from Glasgow to Nice so we decided to pay for one night in a hotel in Nice ourselves. When we mentioned this to the promotion company they said not to worry, we could have three nights in the Fairmont (which we discovered was around 700 Euros per night!). Best holiday ever.

I love it when this happens! I won with Londis last month, it was McVities nibbles, 4 of them in the picture. So I was stunned when this massive hamper arrived with 3 bottles of wine, 4 new release DVD's, 3 big share bags of crisps and the nibbles too
    GOAL - win 72 prizes in 2016.
    SO FAR - 29!

I won a holiday that due to ill health I was unable to take, I emailed them in time to offer the prize to someone else. They then found a spare brand new mobile phone which they sent me.

Totally unexpected and greatly appreciated, it's a decent one too

A few years ago I won an Xmas dinner hamper from Metro Radio. I was a bit of a prat and didnt check the T&Cs so I didnt notice it was collection only (I dont drive and it was to be collected from a farm).

When I told Metro I would have to forfeit the prize the guy I spoke to insisted he went to pick it up and deliver it to me as he didnt want me to lose out. It was totally unexpected and such a lovely gesture. I took his bosses name and emailed him to let him know that he had an absolute star working with him.

I won an amplifier from Oppo in a twitter RT comp last week (worth £250). The thing that was unusual about this was i actually won one of their last comps towards the end of last year. I was a bit worried they would realise and say i can't have a prize for winning so soon after. I entered because i did consider having one at work and one at home.

After sending my address etc, the next morning i got a message from them. You know when you can only see the first line of a message and have to click in to read the rest well, i saw the first line and my heart sank. It read 'Jamie, as you've won a HA-2 amp before....'

Thought they were about to rip the rug out from under me. I clicked to read the rest and it was totally not what i expected. It said '... rather than having 2 amps, would you prefer a pair of our PM-3 headphones instead?'

The headphones are actually worth £350 so an even better prize than the initial one. I received them on Thursday and love them to bits.

I won a holiday to Houston (actually goinf this Sunday).

The original prize was flights, hols and attractions passes, but Visit Houston (one of the prize providers) have gone above and beyond. They got us a family room so we can take our son, and theyve also thrown in use of Uber for the whole time we are there, other tickets (inlcuding for a basketball game) and restaurant vouchers.

Singapore airlines were also helpful. When buying an extra flight ticket for my son, the lady advised use that she was waiting until Black Friday for a sale ticket, and saved us £150 off the cost of the ticket.

Took ages for all this to be finalised, but can't complain at all about what they have given us.
Total Value of wins in 2009: £900 appox. 2010: £730

Wins 2011: Carlisle Utd Tickets (twice!), Baby Food Hamper, Straighteners, Chugginton Toy

Was a really little thing, but touched me. Won tickets to see the Doctor Strange film back in October, but it started at 6.30pm which was too tight for me to get to after work (I finish at 6pm). The lovely bloke at Disney emailed me and said they'd send a copy of the DVD when it was released. It turned up last week! Presumed they'd forget... It was a nice surprise

I won a trip to the French Open, travel on Eurostar early Sat morning, tickets for tennis, overnight stay ( Sat) in Paris and return tickets Sunday morning.....I live in the Midlands so would have to stay overnight in London and catch a very early Eurostar in order to be at Roland Garos for 11am, after discussing this with Active Instinct who ran the comp on FB, they put me in touch with Bablot's representatives.Who went ' above and beyond' .He booked Friday afternoon Eurostar tickets ( which cost £450 return for 2) , booked us an extra night at the superb 5* hotel ( where most of the players were staying) arranged for transport to meet us, we got breakfast on 2 mornings not 1 , and dinner. The chauffeur driven Mercedes was arranged at times to take us to the tennis and bring us back ( whereas the prize had stated initially we had to make our own way from the train and collect the tickets at the stadium) ....we had full use of Babalot' s private court side box, their restaurant in the 'Village' at the stadium where we were met looked after by a ' hostess' who ensured we had everything we could possibly have needed....sun hat, sun cream, cool cloths and cold drinks brought to our seat throughout the day.....I got a text late evening asking what time we wished to return. When the time came we were escorted to the Mercedes and whisked back to the hotel, greeted again by Frank the Babalot rep and asked if there was anything further he could do for us.He had booked late Sunday night tickets for us for our return journey and had arranged for the hotel to look after our luggage so we could have all day Sunday in Paris......this prize , for me, was the stuff that dreams are made of. Nadal , Sharapova and the likes just made it even more unbelievably special .

I won a prize in a restaurant which i had to give up as it was only available on a specific day and I was away.

    This was late last year.

Fast forward to last week, and i get an e-mail 3 months later offering me a meal for two on the day of my choice.

Was so surprised - had forgotten all about it.

I won a holiday to Couples in Barbados 3 years ago. Had it all booked 7 months before, including a hotel at the airport the night before the flight date. About 3 months beforehand Couples got took over by Sandals, but they honoured the dates etc. Then about 2 months to go Sandals decided to close the resort for renovations for 9 months, our date was in this period. As we'd already got a hotel at the airport and train tickets, the provider (Hayes & Jarvis) allowed us to choose another Sandals resort that had flights the same day, and for our "troubles," we had an upgraded room when we arrived! So impressed with how they handled it :-)

I won a London Theatre trip for 4 people, dinner at the Savoy and an overnight hotel stay for 4 (2 executive rooms) with complementary champagne x 2 and breakfast from Magic radio. We had to pay for our own dinner because there was a mix up with the credit card.

This amount was refunded in full and they gave us £50 in theatre tokens by way of an apology.
