Could someone explain in simple terms what the limits are, please?

I currently invest through Cavendish but as a passive investor my money is concentrated in a small number of funds (Vanguard) plus a pension using L and G multi index.

It is normally £50k on investment, but the scenarios in which it comes into play are pretty obscure if you stick with mainstream providers.

Depending on your attitude to risk you can limit your exposure on fund platforms and/ or investment houses to that limit, though it can become impracticable for larger pots.
