Still have to sign on? 17th Mar 17 at 4:55 PM
I'm 61 and my partner is 62. He was on ESA (cancer) but this has stopped and now he gets JSA. However I am increasing my working hours to take us off JSA (and hopefully get WTC). Does he still need to sign on to get his conts paid, even though he won't get anything?

    As I understand it yes.

However, does he need them paid? Has he checked if he has enough years contributions for a full state pension? There is nothing to be gained by jumping through hoops to collect NI credits unless he is going to derive any benefit.

Get a state pension forecast here https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension
Might as well do it for both of you so you can plan, not that many years to go now !
