O/S Daily Thursday 16 March 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was HM quiche, (using up pastry, gammon and mushrooms from the fridge), egg fried rice dish with LO chicken from the fridge and peas, cous cous stuffed peppers roasted in the oven and onion rings - it was a bit of a mixture but used up several bits that would have been thrown away and was nice to have something different. Tonight again I'm not sure, I really haven't planned very well this week, so that is something I must do today/tomorrow as it's been difficult at night trying to organise a meal and I didn't spend any less at the SM so I'll have a look in the freezer to see what's in there and can make a plan for the coming week.

I'm now on days off, and there seems to be a washing mountain, I'll get going with this shortly, although I've washed and put a load on the line 2 days already this week, hoping today I can do the same, although there looks to be very little wind, so it may not dry, we'll see. I'll be heading into town to visit the bank, building society and the butchers this morning. I'll then be coming home to get on with the "to do" list - which seems to be a rather big list this week!

Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Thank you nmlc for starting the thread off this morning.
It's forecast to be another fine day I think but it's a bit dark to see at the moment :) Hubby has left for work but he is tired as am I after a bad night with DD14. I hope she feels a bit better today and knows she is not on her own with this horrible illness. I doubt she will manage school and to be honest I want to keep a close eye on her for a while. I was very upset to hear that her 'voices' are telling her to kill herself but kept calm and just told her she was a worthwhile person who is very much loved. I really hope camhs can help us.

My trip out yesterday was very successful and I even bumped into my mum and stepdad who were so pleased to see me in a 'proper' shop :D. She was on an easter egg mission as she has 12 grand children to buy for and they were only a £1 each in the store. My lovely CMHT lady let me unload some of my worries and has offered me phone support on Monday after DD14's appointment.

I have my diabetic clinic today which I am dreading as although I have lost some weight since last time, my sugars have been horrible. The nurse is lovely though so hopefully she will just smack my hand and not be too cross. I wish I could get my head around not eating sugary food but when I am stressed it's the first thing I go for. Must try harder!

My friend is coming to see me today so I will have a run around tidying up the living room. It will be lovely to see her as we haven't spent any time together for a few weeks due to illness. I am looking forward to making a pot of tea and setting the world to rights with her.

Anyway, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning :hello:

When I'm out with Scampi, I don't expect anyone to move or change their walk for us – it's actually more useful if they don't, I can use it as a lesson. But I also don't expect someone to deliberately go out of their way to follow us and speed up so they're almost on top of us. This man knows what Scampi's like (we've chatted about it) and always walks the same way with his dog – he's seen me change direction and calm Scampi down endless times - so I went the other way, next thing I knew he was behind us, Scampi was going out of his mind with panic and had twisted the lead around my finger, I thought it was going to dislocate. I had a little tantrum of my own, it wasn't pretty or the slightest bit ladylike – and I think the whole area heard me - but I doubt the man will ever come near us again. Idiot.

I was useless when I got home, I use my left hand with the lead but had to grab the lead with my right hand as well, my hip and shoulder were pulled and were quite painful for a few hours. I'm very stiff this morning, not sure how I'm going to get anything done. And I still have a little dent near my knuckle where the metal ring on the lead dug in. I wouldn't wish an anxious, reactive dog on anyone but I wish all dog owners had to spend a day with one, they might be a bit more considerate and understanding. And not so bloody judgemental.

Had some lovely birthday gifts yesterday and Little Mate bought a cake round. He wouldn't help me blow out the candles though, I had to do it by myself :D

It cost £1 to get the car through the MOT, just needed a bulb.

The phone cable has finally been wired back into the socket, I had a moment of “oh at last!” followed by “oh no, people can ring me now!” :D

Little things make a big difference I think, so when it comes to other people I always pay attention to the details, rather than focusing on the big things that I can't usually help with. I don't get the same in return so I'm going to stop. I don't do anything to get something back but there does come a point where you think “hang on a minute......” I'm going to be selfish for a while and just concentrate on me.

    Morning everyone.

Wide awake when I don't need to be! Slept well though so can't even nod off again.

My defrosted and reheated liver and onions / bacon wasn't as nice as making it fresh. The reheating process made the liver tough and mostly unpleasant so I won't be doing that again. I'll root out the other tubs of it and use them up.

My new speaker turned out to be a pain to set up even though it shouldn't have. I had to link it to the router and even then had to reboot the router to get it to work. Now it's playing away in the upstairs hall.

I had a lovely chat with my farmer neighbour, he's busy with calving, 32 done with another 30 still to come. I really enjoyed the chat until we caused a traffic jam - one other car wanting past!

Two more hours with the teens ahead of me today. Luckily my session is their second of the day so the persistently late-comer will be there already, mind you he didn't stay for it last week so who knows.

I hope everyone has a good Thursday.

    Morning All

    Hugs to you dumpling.

Nothing much to report, I have a car full of rubbish from DDs new flat to take to the tip on my way to work, we managed to get quite a lot moved last night. We were so tired and hungry we stopped at McDs for something to eat - quite tasty but I had tummy ache in the night!

Not much happening today, I've done the ironing already so I have something to wear for work.

Belated birthday wishes tru, sorry I missed it.

Sorry for the new speaker Gers!

Hope everyone's ok, take care. XX

    Good morning.
Dumpling, I hope your daughter gets thd help that she needs, it is awful when our children are having a 'fragile' patcH, I know.

tru, happy birthday, I think I am late with that.

I felt quite unwell at work yesterday (backache from a now healed disc injury, every joint aching and inexplicably tired) so I gave up and used some of my time owed to take the afternoon off. My back feels a bit better, I did my exercises, but I have woken up with a streaming nose and sore eyes so they are probably all connected. I feel miserable and cross with the world, which is unjustified.

I've things to do, so quite soon I will mobilise my bum. Two or three loads of washing, a bit of ironing (Hester don't look), kitchen and bathroom and the usual cleaning round. It does not all have to be done today and I did the washbasin and loo last night though not the bath, other surfaces or floor.

I hope everyone has a good day
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Thanks nmlc for starting us off.
Dumpling I do the same thing when I'm stressed reach for the sugary stash.

It's a real pain logging every drink and food that I eat and every twinge ect bit has to be done. I didn't realise I was having so many twinges as I tend to just brush it off and get on with it.

DD2 had the docs yesterday and he has given her some strong painkillers for her back which has not been the same since the car accident so hopefully they will help.
Had DD1 and DGD round yesterday and they stayed for dinner. Fish pie for DD1 and chicken nuggets for DGD. Did DGD a pudding of icecream marshmallows chocolate chips popping candy and chocolate sauce so she went home hyper (permit me an evil grin mwhaaa)
Managed to save a portion of the fish pie for the freezer and have decided that we will have the curry tonight as it's just me and DH eating at home. Might see if I can find a recipe for nan bread later.
Need to do the ironing this morning but will have breakfast first.
    Anyhoo better get on.
Hugs to all in need xx
    Bright Blessings xx

    Morning all,

Very foggy here which probably means it will be another lovely day, I had turned the heating off at the beginning of march but I think we still need it on for a while in the mornings as it feels very cold here this morning.

Off to work for me today at the other site which will be much quieter and wil give me an easier day.

:bdaycake: Tru I am so sorry I missed your Birthday, hope you had a great day xx

Dumping hugs to you and your dd's xx

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Rather gloomy outside but rain not forecast till later this afternoon.

Rubbish night again. Wide awake at 1.00, eventually dozed fitfully and wide awake again at 4.00. Managed to doze again and come 6.00 I could have turned over and gone back to sleep! Sod's law eh?!

Nothing too taxing planned for today - until the 3 DGDs arrive from swimming/diving for tea and sleepover! Thankfully DD can take them tonight and face the ordeal of showering and hairwashing in a sauna-like changing room! As usual a Bolognese bake or Lasagne has been requested so the mince is out defrosting in readiness. I shall make it this morning and then just pop in the oven to warm up.

In between times it will be a pottering day, catching up on the odd jobs that keep getting postponed, as they do too often these days!

DUMPLING it must be so hard for you watching your DD's suffer. My thoughts are with you. LWW, hopefully the log of food intake and subsequent aches and pains will lead to a diagnosis and cure for you, Good luck.

Have a good day all and (HUGS) for all the poorlies, worried or sad who want one. Take care xx Whoops, a belated Happy Birthday from me too TRU!
