Poroblem with Combi Boiler - Flow issue 15th Mar 17 at 12:13 PM
I have a Potterton gold 24e combi boiler

The hot water works - but I have to turn the tap on quite strong for the boiler to start heating the water.

The shower is worse. I have to regularly (like once every 2 weeks) descale the shower head. If the head gets clogged the boiler cant detect there is a "demand" for hot water. I can hear the boiler making a clicking noise when this happens as the hot water turns on and off. This morning could not get any hot water out of the shower.

Would like the opinion of the forum - before I get someone in too look at this - so I don't get taken for a ride.

    What could it be?

It could well be the plate heat exchanger causing temperature fluctuations but if it's not registering the demand it has to be something to do with the flow switch, don't think the he has a diaphragm on the hot water, sure it has a magnetic flow switch with gauze filter.

2.5 ltrs/min minimum, if you have to discale your shower then I suspect the plate hex isn't in the best of conditions either, do you have some form of scale inhibitor on the cold into the boiler ?
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
