carera occupying bedroom for HB 12th Mar 17 at 7:40 PM
Hi, I am a carer for my wife and our adult son is about to move out.
As we will now have a spare room i would like to use this as my own bedroom rather than sharing with my wife.
One of my wifes conditions is she has a stoma and is prone to frequent leaks during the night.
Would me moving rooms be allowed in relation to the bedroom tax or is it likely to be disallowed.

Can post more info if needed.

becaise you have so far managed to share a room and also they consider that you could use 2 single beds.

they only usually allow a second bedroom if there is an overnight carer that has a permanent residence elsewhere or if there is a lot of bulky medical equipment.

as a married couple it is expected that you would share a bedroom

In your case you would probably be refused as you have been sharing the same bedroom and you could share the same bedroom if you had two single beds.

Still worth appealing any decision though.

These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.
