    Marbles Card

Marbles Card 10th Mar 17 at 8:38 PM
Applied for a Marbles card last night and was successful at the representative APR - which is good for me!

Does anyone have a Marbles card from when they relaunched in 2015 and how long did it take to arrive? What was your initial credit limit?

Also, the card is referred to by Newday as 'near prime' - is this the new term for sub prime?

Typically will take 5-7 working days.

Limits will vary by customers. But as a near/sub prime card, expect something on the low side.

Don't worry about the near/sub categorisation.

I think 33.8% APR is subprime

    Pretty high, right!

It's actually not the worst out there. My Vanquis is approx 40%.

I've got a few cards with APRs ranging from 10.9% to 39.9%, I don't hold a balance but I like to get rewards

Which ones have you got for rewards or are they just mainstream lenders?

Mind me asking what your credit history is like? Just so I can see what's achievable. I've actually just opened a current account with Nationwide.

My credit is ok, no missed payments or defaults, I don't have any balances on cards only what I spend monthly and pay in full.

I've had a few to many searches and new accounts recently so that's my only negatives. I don't need any new credit so I'm not applying for anything else in the near future.

ASDA card has a soft search.
    Amex also has soft search
    Barclaycard has it too

Apparently the creation everyday card is easy to get even with defaults, they have a soft check as well.

How's your credit? If your apply for Marbles do you have defaults?

Capital one have a soft search if your credit isn't great.

    It's poor.

I have a Vanquis and now the Marbles which was accepted the other day. I'll leave it at that until I can get one with one of my banks.

Just trying to rebuild credit until my defaults and CCJs drop off in about 3 years.

Two cards is enough to help, but no harm in doing a few soft searches. You could try a catalog like lookagain or JD Williams. JD Williams seem to accept anyone.

I've had past problems and had to rebuild, I started with Capital One and Barclaycard inital, JD Williams and Very.

Yeah, I've also got JD Williams and Freemans account. Purely for rebuilding.

I got a £250 overdraft the other day too so not sure if my bank score is improving!

It must be....I've not asked my bank for an overdraft because I don't really want one. I've learnt from passed mistakes to only spend what I have

Yeah, tbh I don't use it. I just thought it may look good on my credit report but doesn't seem to even show.

I don't understand the attraction with Marbles
I started off with a Barclaycard Initial and then they allowed me to transfer it over to a Barclaycard Freedom Rewards Card.
Barclays is unlikely to go out of business and the Card is a Visa Card.
Barclays Initial was originally the only Company to accept me and I started
with a £150 Credit limit. Now 3years later I have there Reward Card (1 point for every pound you spend and 2 points if its in a Supermarket) and a £3000 Credit Limit.
I only spend what I can afford to pay off each month.
I hope my story helps others that you can get there!
Interestingly though just out of curiosity, I tried to apply to Marbles yesterday just to see what would happen and they declined me lol
Who knows how these Companies minds work. I found it very amusing
