I think most people knew something like this was going on but it's interesting to see how the operation works.

I have had a few of these calls and although I either did not answer them or told them where to go as soon as I found out who they were I was quite surprised how sophisticated they are in a few things. They show UK numbers to confuse you on caller display and they then change the number by a couple of digits so they can get over a blocked call number.

Talktalk will now block numbers free of charge.

Yes funny that my elderly father had one of these calls and unfortunately lost a lot of money, call was after he rang them about a fault. Called ombudsman and they said there was no fraud. Useless on both counts.

I had one about old shares the other day, a fraud I know people fall for. I told them I only deal with scammers via the mail rather than on the phone and would they write to me. They hung up.

They have been doing this for years. In 2014 I was with TT, on two occasions I was phoned by them, number displays, you can hear its a call centre in the background. They said they needed me to log on So they can access to my account due to illegal activity - told them to get lost!!!, I sensed it was a scam! The second time, they were trying to be more persistent, referring to my computer having a tracking virus- URGHHH???I told them I have an iPad put the phone down on me abruptly. Not able to hack APPLE or at least not then!!!!

I kept them talking for as long as I could the other day.

Then I told them I was a witch and was putting a curse on them as they were evil.
