Make £10 a day March 2017 - everybody most welcome to join 28th Feb 17 at 10:26 PM
    Hello and welcome everybody

This is the 115th month of this challenge, which was first started by Batgirl, in September 2007.

Thanks to Batgirl for starting it, lynnejk, Rawdinosaur, Emmaglet, Nat21luv, Monkeynut, Sweetpeas, Purpleroses, JesaRose, MizMir for keeping the thread going.

I know this first post is long, but please read as it give tips on how this challenge works. Some of the content has changed

If you're new to the challenge don't be scared - here's how it works:

The aim of this challenge is to make £10 extra a day everyday for the month. A lot of people think this is impossible but it can and has been done, over and over. If you feel £10 is too much why not start at £5 or if you're brave join those who aim for £20 a day! Anything extra you make is great so set whatever target you think you can manage.

It also doesn't have to be £10 each and every day - some days you make more and some days you make less, but aim for £310 extra at the end of the month.

The idea is that everyone posts how they are making extra money and these shared ideas help all of us to learn new ways to help cut debt or earn/save money.

    What cannot be added:
    Wages from your main job

    What can be added:
    Overtime
    Income from a second job
    Daily clicks
    Interest
    Vouchers
    Mystery shopping
    And much, much more.

This board moves pretty quickly, so be sure to subscribe and read it regularly. Below are some ideas to get you started and a great place to read when you're in need of inspiration.

    Sell your old books/DVDs/CDs/games here:
    Amazon.co.uk, play.com, webuybooks, zapper, CEX

Ebay - a place to sell anything and everything.

Gumtree, Preloved, cquot, ebid, craigslist, vivastreet, netmums.com, trade-it , Friday ad, priceminster - these are all places you can sell items too.

Survey sites - mysurvey and pinecone, prolific academic tend to be the best but there are many more it really depends on you finding the ones that work best for you - toluna, harris poll, valued opinions etc

also join Topcashback and Quidco - type in surveys in the search engine and some will pay you to join up with them.

Sealed Pot Challenge 2016 - basically you put your change into a jar over the year so in December you should have a nice pot of money to help

Mobile phone to recycle? try Martin's mobile recycling comparison site first to see where you may get the best deal!

Music Magpie - have cds/dvds you haven't been able to sell at carboots or online. Try your luck here. Is you do sell your albums/dvds be sure to go via quidco to get a few more pennies

etsy and folksy - If you enjoy making crafts why not have a go at selling them on etsy or folksy. They've been getting increasingly busier each year.

Collect Boots points while shopping online.

Don't forget to search for your online shop at nectar.com before you buy, and earn nectar points for buying online, including ebay.

Trying to find other ways to make money? Check out the Boost Your Income board. It is full of ideas, including survey companies and product testing.

Want to help someone else out? Sign up through their referral on the referral board, and leave yours, so someone else can do the same for you.

Keep reading for lots more ideas on how to make more money each month.

This month's challenge is to try and make £310 (or any amount of course!) lynnejk is assisting me and will create the challengers list and update it. She will also be answering any questions she can help with and here for general advice. Having been a challenger for a while, she knows her stuff Thank you lynnejk for your help.

Good luck everybody. Remember to post any questions or comments that you have, and let's go on encouraging each other throughout this month.

We can and we will do it. Who's in?

We haven't been to Almunecar before, and I'm looking forward to seeing the castle, gardens and old ruins. We went to Nerja last year for a week and liked the atmosphere and there's some great restaurants and tapas bars

Just hope we get some warm and dry weather - it's in the low 20's atm and that would be great

Also had a sell for £1 offer from eBay, but must list items before end of tomorrow. So I'm on a mad hunt through the house to find what can be sold. I have a couple of bits ready to photograph and list....let's see what else I can find

I sorted out quite a bit of stuff and was happily preparing it for listing. My lounge looked like a junk yard However, phone call from mum who was in a lot of pain and quite unwell with it meant a visit to her and calling out a doctor. Mum ended up being admitted to hospital. Gallstones apparently. They are looking to operate today or tomorrow to remove them. My mum is in her late 80's but now she's on strong painkillers she ok and is, I think, enjoying being in a ward chatting to others. Thank goodness for our NHS.

Anyway - I missed the £1 sale window on eBay. I've decided I will keep plodding through the pile of stuff I found and prepare it all for sale (photographs, writing listings etc) but won't list it until I get another offer on sale fees. I'm not in rush for the money. I can store it all (once boxed and ready to post) in the spare bedroom where it won't bother anyone.

Hope everyone is well and making lots of extra income as we hit the almost half way mark in the month

    14 March already

    Right, quick breakdown..

    £25 Swag$
    £5 OnePulse
    £54.24 Bay sales

Total £84.24 thus far. A few bits still in the offing, but not too shabby for the moment. One Pulse has been amazing since they upgraded their app. I'm getting almost a fiver a week from their little 3 question surveys! Highly recommend it if you can put in the effort to reach a decent level by answering a some extra free surveys in your free moments. They literally take 30 seconds a pop.

Bit quiet on here today? Hope everyone is ok.

Got £12.90 to add from a couple of days tips.

Signed up to Onepulse as recommended by surfchik and first impressions are good. Earnt 0.60 today and it looks like the higher level you get, the quicker you can earn so will stick with it.
Nice short questions which I like. Getting very disillusioned with surveys as so many get loads of info out of you and then say you arent suitable.

An exception to the rule is YouGov which I gave up on a while ago as £50 payout seemed to take too long to reach.
Resurrected my account whilst bored this afternoon and did a few surveys bringing me to 2000 points. Will try and do something more regular on the site as at least they dont disqualify you.

You're on a roll there, January. Well done.

I spend hours entering barcodes on these sites but they never want any of my books (apart from the ones I can sell for many times more on Amazon than these bulk-buy sites offer). I've done OK with CDs on MM in the past though but have no more left to sell

Thanks for the question, FatVonD. sadly I can't give you a definitive answer.

I use Amazon in preference to eBay because I hate eBay. Seem to get so many stroppy customers on the latter, very, very rarely on Amazon

The advantage with Amazon, as I see it, is that once the books are listed they stay listed. I can just forget about them, although I occasionally check my inventory and refresh my prices. I often sell a book that I've had listed for many months and forgotten about. Panic stations to actually locate it for posting though.

The listing process on Amazon is so easy too

What Amazon isn't good for is anything out of the norm, such as bundling 2 or more books together etc. eBay is better for that.

Amazon's fees are quite high too, although you get a £2.80 postal credit. That's another thing with eBay, you can adjust your postage prices and even offer free postage if you want. With Amazon they allow you the same credit regardless of the size and weight of the book. Sometimes you can be quids in because the package will send as a Large Letter so you pocket the difference. On very heavy and big books you are definitely at a loss unless you pitch your selling price higher to compensate, but then you're having to compete with sellers who are selling it cheaper and are prepared to take a loss (such as the big, professional sellers). I very rarely sell such books online unless they are very rare and 'in demand'.

eBay often has good reduced listing/final fee offers too so that all comes into the mix as wll.

All in all, FatVonD, I don't think I've been a lot of help to you

    Good Luck
