How to break an old financial association on credit report? 19th Feb 17 at 12:19 PM
I recently obtained a credit report from CreditExpert.co.uk and noticed that it contained financial associations (a person and an address) that is no longer correct. I filled in the financial disassociation online form thinking that this would solve the problem in a central manner but I got a reply back from CreditExpert saying they've now removed my association but I should also speak to Equifax and Callcredit to also break the association.

I thought that financial associations were stored in some central location that all credit checking agencies tapped into but this implies they may each keep their own records.

So, if I have to go to each credit checking agency individually, what other agencies should I contact to clean this up?

    TIA

equifax and callcredit, you can check call credit via noddle and equifax via clearscore, both of which are free, noddle has a dispute process (not sure about clearscore). You could also get your £2 report from both and the request they remove any old links

The link would have been created by the bank you had a joint account with, the bank would be showing this in the monthly updates sent to which ever credit reference agency(or agencies) they use. If the joint account is still open you should close it(you probably won't be able to remove link until this is done)

    No, it's not stored centrally.

As above, go to Noddle & Clearscore FREE to see what information they hold.

Always check all 3 CRAs for accuracy - not all financial institutions report to all 3 but there is no guarantee they only report to 1 either. Always check

But just to be clear, there's only three credit reference agencies?
    1) Experian
    2) Equifax
    3) Callcredit

    Or are there others?

You can add the following to your list OP

    NSA, FSA, NASA.

    Lol

N techno theres just the 3 agencies you mention.

Clearscore use the data from Equifax and Noddle use the call credit data.
Can people stop loaning money/being a guarator to family/friends, it rarely ends well and you lose out as your money is gone or you get shafted with being a guarantor.

Hi I have the same question as techno79. Requesting other credit reports does this affect your rating?

Apparently now there's another one - yes, it beggars belief, doesn't it!
