    Get a grip ! 5th Feb 17 at 11:27 AM
Message to self ... get a grip ! Stop moaning about your job and do something about it. Reduce your outgoings so you can leave your job ! Save money so you can leave your job ! Downsize the house so you can leave your job !

Ok so I am mid-40's divorced with DS 21 still at home. He pays half of the bills and his own food (high protein diet).

I hate my job (in case you hadn't guessed lol) and would like to leave but at the moment it gives me financial security and lots of adaptations for my disabilities which put me off / makes me worry about getting a new job. I am not sure what the future will bring (at some point DS will leave home ...hopefully !) but I really need to get some savings in place.

    So here goes........
    Aims for 2017 -
    1. save as much as possible. spend as little as possible but still have a social life !
    2. no takeaways !
    3. shop once a week - no "top-up" shops - no unnecessary spending !!

I saw the news about the train bomb - it's awful. Weve gone back to the 1970s again. Scary times. Again I hope the poor people affected are being helped. I also hope whoever caused this is made to pay.

You have been busy. I come back from work and hear all the great things you have been doing. I hope you are able to sort out that area with the stones and it will look great. It is fab that so many people will be helping with it which eases the stress a little and it will be worth it in the end.

Glad puppy is ok. That was a scary moment and it happens to everyone at some point. As she becomes older it will be easier as she will be trained.

I hope you have a good ladies night tonight.

It was warm and sunny at 9.30 when I walked the puppy but now its cold and cloudy with forecast rain here too so I haven't done any washing. In fact I haven't done much... feel like I CBA today !

I did pop to co-op and used the pukka £5 voucher to buy some groceries for the weekend including a loaf of bread, steak pie, 4 pints milk and a pack of bacon. I still have one portion of slow cooker stew left in the freezer and 2 portions of roast chicken, plus pizza and garlic bread for tonight, so that should keep me going until Monday when I will go to Aldi for shopping ready for DS coming home on Tuesday. He's only been gone 2 weeks but I think he will be surprised how much puppy has grown even though I have been sending him pictures via WotsApp

I posted here earlier but it didn't print. Yikes

I bet DS will be looking forward to the changes in dear Puppy and I do hope he had fun there though despite the weather. He will be able to help with Puppy which will take some of the pressure from you and hopefully he will bring you a gift or two!

Chill, I have been resting and doing housework.

I chilled and had a snooze yesterday afternoon then walked the puppy. After her last feed I popped out and picked up my friends and we had a lovely evening and pizza's were a big hit. The aldi £2.49 rose was lovely, tasted of strawberries

Today I have done very little again apart from a load of washing which has dried outside. I been eating leftovers all day from the freezer apart from a scrummy bacon sarnie for breakfast (free with voucher in co-op) and will be going shopping tomorrow so I will treat myself to something different for dinner tomorrow.

Did someone mention £2.49 rose!?!?!? Was this a weekend only deal or do I need to hot-foot it to an Aldi after school tomorrow?

The free bacon sarnie was courtesy of the £5 voucher sent to me by pukka which I spent on food in the co-op including a loaf of bread and a pack of bacon

KK that particular rose is always £2.49 in my local Aldi. I am not a big wine drinker, but I like rose or peach lambrini or Asti I am in bed now but I will find the bottle and post the name of it later.

I had leftover roast chicken for lunch and dinner yesterday. I had chicken with sweetcorn and some leftover egg fried rice (defrosted from the freezer & heated thoroughly in the microwave) for lunch with soy sauce and ginger. For dinner I poured some nando's piri piri sauce from my store cupboard on the chicken and warmed it through in tin foil in the oven then had it on a wrap with fried onions and the last of the peppers with some skinny oven fries plus the last of the tomatoes and cucumber.

I will probably go shopping later today. I will be phoning the GP surgery at 8am to try and get an appointment later today. Once I know what time that will be I can plan the rest of the day.

GP appointment made for 4.30pm, puppy walked, washing on.

The wine I bought for £2.49 in aldi was Grove Manor Fruity Rose. I don't know if they have it in all stores.

I am waiting to feed puppy at 12 as they have to rest before and after exercise so they don't get an illness called bloat. Then I am going to aldi and will call into the chemist on the way home and collect my prescription. I have arranged my sharps collection for next week (as I have been told not to test my diabetes any more) and I don't have to be home for that. I also need to sort out my flu jab so I may get that done in the chemist too.

This afternoon I will wash puppy towels and bedding if it stays dry outside and I need to phone the credit card company as I have received 1 letter on Friday and they told me I would receive 2. My friend is supposed to be coming round later this afternoon to collect her dog crate we borrowed.

If I get 5 minutes spare I may do some gardening ! With all the rain my climbing rose has gone a bit wild and the shrubs are all huge again. The green bin collection is tomorrow so I will check if my neighbour has anything to go in it as we went halves with the cost.

Well done on not needing to do blood tests any more. I hope you managed to get your washing done. I will try to do some tomorrow.

    Well done on gardening.

It stayed nice and warm this afternoon so all washing dried and I did a bit of gardening. I picked up my prescription and had my free flu jab at the chemist.

Its not my choice not to test SW I would like to carry on as I don't have a clue how food affects me but the NHS don't want type 2 to test any more Their answer was to give me more meds which are the ones making me lose weight so I suppose there is at least a good side effect !

Shopping at Aldi was £40.63 and I put £10 petrol in the car. I had a 50% off chow mein £1.15 for a quick lunch before taking puppy for a walk round the pond.

I had my dr apt and am being sent for a chest xray to make sure my condition is not being caused by lung problems. I have been given repeat meds and stronger painkillers and a fit note for work adjusted duties for another 4 weeks as I am still losing my voice when I speak

I treated myself to boneless bbq ribs for dinner and they are almost ready in the oven with mixed veg including the runner beans my friend gave me. She gave me another lot today which I will freeze and some lovely ripe tomatoes

OMG that is dreadful. I am so sorry. Blimey I didn't know they could do that. I would be utterly lost without my meter. Can you appeal?

Well done on the flu jab. OMG I am so sorry about all this treatment that is not helping with your voice. I hope this xray helps to diagnose what is wrong. Im not 100% but I do feel much better.

Well done on nice food. It is getting dark outside. It's definitely autumn.

Its because I am on regular meds and my levels are controlled (?) I cant take anything if my sugar is higher, but it does not go high enough to need insulin so they say there is no point in testing !? They say I don't have hypers or hypos ( but how would I know if I'm not testing ?).

I think the xray will either show something or rule out something else. At this point I am willing to try anything.

Forgot to mention earlier the dr told me no caffeine so I got Yorkshire tea decaf in morresons £3.29 for 80 which have now run out, but I got 80 decaf tea bags in aldi today for £1.09 and I cant taste the difference !

Its thundering and pouring with rain here now. Puppy was not impressed being turned out in the garden to go to toilet before bed

Its a nice sunny morning here. One puppy walk done. Nothing much planned for today but should be a NSD

I phoned the credit card company as I have only received one letter so far and it is the letter for the application that has been cancelled I have to wait for the duplicate letter to arrive.

I've checked my online banking and should just be ok until DS gets home and pays me his board money but I have transferred some money from the birthday account just in case as I don't want to go overdrawn. Once he has paid me I will put the money back.

Felt a bit grotty today, after effect of flu jab yesterday and my arm has been very sore ! I took my prescription into the chemist on the way to the hospital this afternoon. I parked a 5 minute walk from the hospital to avoid paying for parking and walked. The xray was a walk-in clinic and over very quickly with a very short wait.

Then I went to McD drive thru and treated myself to a big mac and fries for £1.99 as its one of the last days of my "holiday" off work with the last £2 in my purse. I put the 1p change into the charity collection. What would you spend your last £2 on ?

Another puppy walk, we went round the pond this afternoon and then home for a snooze I did another load of ironing this afternoon, just work trousers left to do tomorrow.

Grey damp morning today when I walked the puppy at 9.30 but she still enjoyed herself

DS got home around 11.30 am and she was so excited to see him He had a fab time and not too much disruption with the hurricane which from the sounds of it made more noise than damage as they hid in the bathroom/bathtub
He had to go to bed for a few hours due to jet lag / flyers flu symptoms but was feeling better later. We had free KFC for dinner.
Before he went away we went to KFC drive-thru and when we got home part of our order was missing. I phoned up to let them know and they promised to replace the whole order if we went back within 30 days and gave me a reference number. They replaced the whole meals today, made them large size and gave us free cookies Definitely worth speaking to these companies when something is wrong, even if not really "complaining" just being polite and friendly gets you much better customer service.

My second credit card letter arrived today. I phoned them on the free telephone number and confirmed the correct reference and signed and sent it off. 10 working days for the card and then I can do my balance transfer.

My Pets a t home loyalty card also arrived with a 10% off voucher so we will use that next time we buy puppy food

I'm back at work in the morning but at least its only 2 days this week ! I've ironed one pair of work trousers for the morning, only another 5 pairs to iron - I hate ironing
I've organised my bag and put a snack in there for mid morning so I don't forget to do it at 6am. I've also remembered to put in my latest medical paperwork to give them. Hope the day goes quickly. DS is on nightshift tomorrow so he will be home during the day to walk/look after puppy.

Well done on xray and also on flu jab. I have mine at the weekend. You deserved the Mcdonalds. If I had a spare two pounds I would buy Minstrels as I love them!

Glad DS is back safe and sound. Well done on upgraded meal from KFC and on the credit card transfer. Well done in organising for tomorrow. I hope you have a good day.

Had a night of broken sleep as the new painkillers woke me up around 12 and I was feeling dizzy. I eventually settled about 3am and then I was up at 5am for work. As a result I have booked tomorrow off work. I need some sleep !

Puppy has been very naughty today and misbehaving for both of us which makes me feel sad. Hope she settles down in the next few days now DS is back.

I've got some chicken cooking in nando's peri peri sauce for dinner and we will have it on wraps with salad.

Its a friends birthday tomorrow and I have a card £1.25 which I will pop down and deliver tomorrow when I take back the squeaky shoes to peacocks.

Omg, I am so sorry about the new medicine and dizzy spells. Hopefully this will be better by the weekend. You need some sleep and rest as new meds often have side effects.

I do hope you had a good rest today. Bad timing on puppy being naughty. Ours just used to dig up the daffodils and drive my mum mad - we were young and like him thought it was great fun. She doesn't realise I am sure as she is so young.

Good on you for taking back squeaky shoes. I have had problems with squeaky expensive trainers in the past and it has driven me nuts.
