Stash Busting 2017 - I WILL use my mountains of craftstash before buying more! 2nd Jan 17 at 8:29 PM
    Hi crafters,

Using the concept from the 2016 thread (and goingback as far as 2014 I think...) - originally set up by 'Crafting Mad' - this is hopefully to keep us all on track - and to help us all plough through our crazy big stashes...

Welcome to the new 2017 stash busters thread.

You can find the 2016 thread here:-
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5386359

Well done to all the crafters who took part in 2016. Everyone was amazing and the thread helped so many people that hopefully 2017 can be the same.

For those of you who are new here are a quick recap of the (very loose) rules:-

The rules of the challenge are simple.

You can make anything you like but everything you make must be made using items from your current stash.

You are allowed to print things from cds etc and print any photos etc which may be needed for scrap booking pages but you must not buy any new stash until your target has been met (except for if it is something to enable you to finish of a project such as adhesive etc).

However this challenge is just for fun so if you do sin (and I'm sure there will be many - with me at the top of the list!!) then post for forgiveness and keep creating and having fun xxx

So who's with me this year? Tell me your target and you'll be added to the list Old and new members are welcomed alike

Anyone can join in at any time

    Happy stash busting

I have this week managed to complete a !!!8216;bedazzle by numbers!!!8217; kit. Kind of satisfying. I had eye strain by the end of it. But it filled an evening and made me feel like I!!!8217;d made something. Haha.

I have three pictures I want to frame. Two for Christmas pressies and then this one to maybe hang somewhere.

I!!!8217;ve sewn on the same button again and need to dig out a different button to replace it. It must have a sharp edges to cut through the threads as quickly as it has been.

I have ended up have by a pants weekend of babysitting a teenager when I had hoped to do some fun Christmas stuff. Boo.

Hope you!!!8217;re all doing more crafting than me.

nimbo, that oyster and pearls sounds like fun; I've never heard of such a thing. I feel your pain re the button - I hate sewing them on, so to have to sew the same one on repeatedly would be the absolute pits!

Hi, bit by bit, it's never too late to bust some stash!

I have just made a prototype carrier for 2 bottles, such that the bottles don't clatter together. I made it too big at first, but at least that was easy to sort out. The next ones will be easier to make now. I need 2 more for Friday.

The button is a pain. I had meant to change it for another - but left it in the car so took my needle and thread out to the car to sew it on while the car de iced.

Next time it comes off I!!!8217;ll fins another the same size. My conundrum is there are matching buttons on the sleeves which I don!!!8217;t want to have to change. Meh. We!!!8217;ll see.

The bottle bags look very festive. I need to crack on and start getting myself in the festive mood ASAP. I!!!8217;ll find something crafty to do tonight. I hope.

I hope you!!!8217;re all loving the season. X

The bottles are genius and living the cards. I!!!8217;m a bit jealous of your productiveness.

I have plans today Tomsk an embroidery kit that came with my Molly makes issue this month. It!!!8217;s nit exactly a huge starship buster. But it!!!8217;ll be nice and therapeutic.

118 / 500. Never making this target by the year end.

Today I have seen the kit form this issue of Mollie Makes.

    http://www.molliemakes.com/craft-2/mollie-makes-87/

Not quite as neatly as is shown half way down the page but still looks nice.

I!!!8217;ve got a few sewn and I think one kit left to make -from an older issue. Cactuses I think. One day when I own a house I!!!8217;m going to decorate my craft room with them.

It!!!8217;s not exactly a stash buster as it only arrived this week but it stops the stash growing.

I!!!8217;m trying to figure out when my subscription ends - I can!!!8217;t remember if they tell me or what?

Targets for this week. Dig out the cactus and have a look. Print some designs off at work to sew myself. (I need some hoops I think...).

I have found the kit. Due to the design of the hoops in it I need to use a separate hoop and I don!!!8217;t have one small enough to sew them in.

I!!!8217;m thinking I!!!8217;ll put that on hold for now. I have however really enjoyed some small bits. I might have to rummage through the drawer of kits and find something to crack on with. I think I!!!8217;m finding it enjoyable the fact I!!!8217;m finishing things to be enjoyable as I!!!8217;ve been so stressed
Woth work. It!!!8217;s avoided having mess about and I!!!8217;m putting it all away by the end of the day. It may have to be Christmas decorations as I!!!8217;m hoping to get the tree up today.

Last night after a trip to ikea I have framed three pictures. Two for me one for my sisters Christmas pressie.

They had no small bottles for liquors I did however buy a drink that meant I have one small bottle from that.

Today I intend to tidy the house. Put up the tree and bottle some liquors. A friend of my mother in law gave us a load of bottles with the attached stopper on them as she likes a brand of posh pop that comes in them. So we!!!8217;ll mostly be using those.

Im hoping to start wrapping some pressies today as well. Kirsty!!!8217;s Christmas programme has been on all week and I thought I must have missed the leather book making that I had seen in the snips from other shows so yesterday when it came on I was overjoyed. Hehe. I feel the need to purchase some wall paper paste. I love binding a book so following the technique to line the leather will be awesome. I might try to get round to that today.

I hope you!!!8217;ve all been busy.

    We have just bottled up:
6 bottle of summer girly it!!!8217;s brandy.
8 bottles of black berry of Irish whiskey
    9 bottles of aloe gin
    7 Bottles of damson vodka
6 bottles of cherry brandy and
    6 jars of brandy cherries.

42 altogether. I tapped out before my partner set off some lemon cello and arran cello.

    163/ 500

Not bad going although my back is killing me and the kitchen floor looks like a swimming pool. Haha

I sort of fell off the rails with this and didn't post much but I finished Celtic Noel, and another crossstitch kit called thumbelina by bothy threads. I've done a lot of knitting and sewing and not bought too much in.
If there is a new thread be t year I'll plan a list as I think I work better with one rather than just bibbling through.

    Happy Christmas everyone x

Mrs money penny - congratulations on the cross stitches. They always look to me to involve so much work. Xx.

Just to note the summer girly brandy was in fact summer fruit brandy.

My partner has just bottled up 10 bottle of arran cello and limon cello. 173 / 500

I!!!8217;ve also completed another 5d picture that my partner bought for me. It!!!8217;s a bit of a twee picture but it was a lovely thought.

With all of the bits used up for Christmas wrapping etc 180 / 500!

My crafty plans for the day involve building some drawers from ikea that we!!!8217;re a Christmas gift. Woo from my sister in law. I was a bit gutted when my partner said I wasn!!!8217;t getting ikea vouchers form her any more. She did even better.

    http://www.ikea.com/us/en/images/products/helmer-drawer-unit-on-casters-green__0324757_PE517670_S4.JPG

I then need to sort out my craft room. I!!!8217;ve been given a box of papers to take to work as I work with children and I have a boot box to fill with them.

I have a cardboard frame to fill. I think I!!!8217;m going to use some unicorn fabric my partner bought me in my stocking. It!!!8217;s poly cotton and one meter so can!!!8217;t make a dress with it. Going to embroider a word on it. The frame is too short for the word unicorn. But want to avoid love.

I!!!8217;m thinking that will keep me busy today - alongside washing and some films recorded over Christmas.

I hope you!!!8217;ve all got some wonderful crafty plans. Xxxx

I also plan to be sorting my stash over the next few days, My Nephew has moved into the spare room and he needs space but also I need to understand what I have so I can plan to use it. Will be setting up in DD room once she goes back to uni. Looking forward to 2018 and reducing the pile.

    Well my day was stifled.

I swept and mopped all the floor so I had a large clean space to build in and went to get me drawers. My partner has only picked up the gift we gave to his brother in law instaed of the drawers (left behind due to a lack of space in that car when going home due to cats and babies being with them...)

So no drawers to build today. But I have at least done some cleaning up haha.

O hope the plans of others have not been as stunted. Haha.

I have now built the drawers from ikea.

I used up some plastic sheet and made some protectors for the drawer labels.

I am actually impressed with myself. They took a little over an hour - but I was watching a movie at the time so not very focused.

I haven!!!8217;t made my total for the year. But I have managed 200 / 500.

    Happy new year to all.
