The thing is, we are an asset. So they feed us swagbucks even when there's no ads. They don't want people giving up during lean periods.

Swagbucks has a lot of competition on mobiles apps from EngageMe, Perk etc. and they are all fighting for market share.

Perk boasts that they have 20 million users. Their quiz app pays out regardless of whether there's an advert or not.

Perk is loss making. I know this because its parent company is listed on London Stock Exchange. Investors stomach the loss making because they believe there's a brand new emerging market in Apps as nobody watches tv adverts anymore and longer term Perk will make a profit.

Perk pays much less than Swagbucks, by the way. I know this because I run Perk continually on 3 phones.

Anyway, Swagbucks has to compete with companies that are prepared to run their mobile apps at a loss.

My guess then, is that survey income is being used at Swagbucks to offset losses on videos and this means we are all noticing that there's less SB to be had for surveys. I think that's where the money for the apps is coming from when there's no adverts.

So I just read something particularly interesting about Swagbucks! Disney actually used them for a survey back in April with the results leading to them deciding to build a Star Wars theme hotel! How cool is that!!

Swagbucks rewards £130 Amazon vouchers. £70 Paypal vouchers £10 iTunes
    Qmee Rewards - £14.89
If you can dream it you can do it - Walt Disney

It can be financially beneficial to invest in a cheap Android phone. They start at around £20, but there are no certainties with future Swagbucks.

    Buying an Android Phone
If you are thinking of buying an Android phone for running the SB apps and believe that SB will operate the apps in the current way for long enough, get a phone with at least 1 GB and preferably 2 or 3 GB memory for smoother performance and fewer memory issues, and with at least Android 6 and preferably Android 7 so that the phone will support the SB apps for longer into the future.

For example, the Cubot Hafury Mix has 2 GB memory and Android 7, and costs £70, for a payback time of 5 months, assuming the basic return of 50p per day from running the 7 apps once a day. The possible bonus runs and extra overnight runs, and any contributions to Swago, would help to reduce the payback time.
