2017 - No Clutter To Be Seen 29th Dec 16 at 9:34 AM
To use Guineapigsqueaks/my own wording, "A new thread for declutterbugs in 2015 2016 2017!"

I'm going to aim to get rid of 2017 items in 2017.
There are some lovely tips on the KonMari thread here, set up by the talented greent: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5385103

Of particular note is post 4 of where you can get rid of unwanted items:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=69806488&postcount=4

Welcome one and all and happy decluttering!

All brand new and still had labels on. Two pairs of jeans too big and one too small and all in styles I would no longer wear. Visited someone on the way to the charity shop who had a jumper they no longer wanted so I took that to the shop with my donation.

We went up to mums yesterday for roast dinner.

I was helping her sort out some stuff while we were there.

2 bin bags of clothes, shoes, bags etc from all of us that we no longer want to go to the charity shop. 3 carrier bags of various leads, wires and other tech accessories my dad no longer wants to go to the tip.

My partner has a car again now so he is going back up there today to actually perform the charity shop and tip run and to also clear out the sheds and take anything from there to the tip also.

It's something we should have helped mum do long before we moved out, months ago. But at least it's getting done now

This post I wrote on Tuesday 10th,but forgot to actually post it

'Tis very quiet around here at the moment.
I haven't done alot of decluttering this week.Over the last couple of days I have been doing lots of cleaning, though.
    Today I did a bit of paper-sorting,though:
2176:bundle of papers and mail sorted through-everything either filed or recycled
2177:a small collection of paper that has been standing up wedged between microwave and the wall for about a year -either put away properly,or recycled
2178:Christmas cards recycled .They have been hanging up on the hallway wall, since last Christmas,so you just don't see them anymore
There was something else I decluttered yesterday, but I can't remember what it was

Anyone heard of Swedish Death Cleaning? Me neither, but apparently you should try to start decluttering your house for your death when you reach 50

I'm not 50 yet but it does make you think. When my Nan went into a home my Mum had to clear out her 2-bed flat. She had so much stuff!! Really great pieces of furniture, loads of knick knacks, etc. She also had a few handbags in the wardrobe stuffed with 1000's of £££ My Mum said she was glad she did it before my Nan died as it was hard enough when she was alive.

I sometimes think "what would happen to my belongings if I die?" Very morbid of me

Link if anyone is interested in reading about SDC!!

I got sick of the mess in my front room today,so tried to make decisions about some of the piles of things I have had a hard time deciding on before.Mostly it is "bits" of stuff: parts of toys missing pieces, pyjamas missing a half, etc.I did end up being ruthless and setting aside alot to take to the tip,but I still need to get rid of alot more .
    Out of the house

    Binned:
    2354:old library card
    2355-2361:7 marking pens
2362-2363:animal puppets on strings.Strings all knotted up and I didn't have the patience.....
2364:tin with 28 pieces of a 32 piece magnetic jigsaw puzzle.I will never find the missing pieces,so finally put tin out for recycling, and binned the pieces
    2365:broken toy tea-cup
2366-2391:26 bits of tat that didn't really belong to anything: tiny toy pieces, buttons, etc

    Recycled:
2391-2392:a pair of kid's slippers.I nearly put them out for donation, but they are meant to make a funny squeak with each step, but only one of them did this
2393-2394:2 small rocks returned to the front garden
