To use Guineapigsqueaks/my own wording, "A new thread for declutterbugs in 2015 2016 2017!"

I'm going to aim to get rid of 2017 items in 2017.
There are some lovely tips on the KonMari thread here, set up by the talented greent: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5385103

Of particular note is post 4 of where you can get rid of unwanted items:

    Out of the house today:

    Binned:
    1797-1798:2 hair chalks
    1799: collection of 8 shells
1800:old tub of moisturiser binned, container recycled
    1801:body scrub emptied,container recycled
    1802:old,cheap bracelet
    1803-1804:2 make-up brushes
    1805:fake hair extension thingy
    1806:mostly used nail decorations,packet recycled
    1807:hair band
    1808:kid's make-up
    1809:Snow White eraser
1810:another little plastic box of shells (box recycled)
1811:handmade Christmas decoration made by one of the kids.

I also set aside more items of tat to go to the tip. Will count it when it leaves the house.

    And stuff for recycling:
    1812:Lush packaging

Recycled from loft (which I count seperately):

170-175: about 6 plastic boxes that stored Christmas decorations. The decs will never be put back in them,so no point keeping
176:cardboard box which contained boxes that Nintendo games
cartridges come in.Not sure what I will end up doing with the games boxes (kids don't even really play with DS units anymore),but for now thay are transferred to a smaller box. This cardboard box had been sitting in my loft since 2008
177-193: 17 pieces of plastic that made up "things" that my kids made into unidentifiable masterpieces at school: margarine pots, yoghurt pots, egg boxes.......These are the types of things that I collect in my loft. After 10 years of having 4 kids going to schhol,my loft is full of these treasures .Really, why do I keep them?

    Some good points

    http://www.retirebeforedad.com/2017/08/17/clutter-home-money/

I've not done much lately, although I do have a little list to post. Will do that ASAP and hopefully that will give me an added incentive to get back on it.
    3 stone lost from May-December 2016. 2.5 more to lose in 2017.

Day 2 of the Great Loft Declutter .

I spent the day climbing up and down the loft ladder, bringing down stuff and sorting it out.I wanted a "full day" of actually working in the loft, without running around delivering stuff.I have another carload of stuff to deliver to the tip and charity shops tomorrow.

But for now,out of the house today:

    271-272:2 strings of beads

    284:cardboard sweets tube
    285:shoe box lid
    286:empty Chinese take-away container
287:aromatherapy face and body spray bottle, emptied first
    288:tea-tree oil bottle,emptied first
289:bottle of sweet almond oil, emptied first
(the aromathersapy bottles are at least 17 yo-they were bought before I moved to England in 2000
290:small roll of paper for kid's writing/drawing.Now creased to bits
291:I also found a couple of bags of pinecones, which the kids had collected.I went for a quick walk in the neighbourhood and returned them to a local wooded area.
292:collection of stones, again collected (I think by OH ).Have put those in the front garden.

I also found 2 very old video recorders. Will have a play with them at some stage, see if they still work, and decide what to do with them.

Well done all on your decluttering. Not been on for a while but have been doing bits here and there. I have had time over the last couple of days to get on with things as once i dropped the kids off at school i did not sit down for a quick cup of coffee which then turns into an hour or two, I actually managed to motivate myself to do some things of the to do list first. This included taking things to the allotment, putting the knackered suitcase that had grown roots by the door to the bin. The house looks airier and i have already got my two tubs ready for me to sort through when i watch tv tonight!
2017- No clutter to be seen : my aim 33min 37 sec a week.

So,today is the end of a week that I took off especially to declutter my loft.I am very pleased with how much space I have made.I gave away two items (handbags) to 2 friends.Everything else was either donated to charity,or taken to the tip.
I still have alot of work to do-still got boxes and boxes to sort through.Lots of sentimental stuff to sort through, still need to sort and declutter Christmas decorations, kid's artwork, photos, keepsakes, more toys, etc.
I was out with friends for most of the afternoon, but did get about 1.5 hours in the loft tonight.I was trying to tidy it up a bit after the wek.But a couple of items did leave:
524-525:2 handbags, never used (unwanted gifts ),given to friends
526-528:3 boxes which had contained games. The boxes will never be used again,so no point keeping

Below is list of stuff I had accidentally earlier listed as having been decluttered from the house, instead of from the loft, which it was. (I am trying to keep the list seperate, because I am treating decluttering the house, and decluttering my loft,as separate challenges.I really think by the end of the year, the numbers could be similar .)
    602:Ben10 hat
    603:toy hockey set,unopened
    604-605:2 handmade wooden dolls
    606:"I like it When" book
    607:Winnie The Pooh videotape
    608:Blinky Bill videotape
    609:magnetic letters book
    610:pair of fluffy boots
    611:plastic gift bag
    612-616:5 jumpers,all excellent condition,one with labels,another never worn
    617:short and shirt outfit,Thai-style
    618-624:7 pairs ladies shorts

I also set aside some stuff to donate. Will list when it leaves the house.I also found a book to donate, but it needs to be pressed flat first .

    657:pair of shorts
    658-663:6 pairs of leggings
    664-672:9 long-sleeve tops
    673-677:5 pairs of jeans
    678-680:3 pairs cotton trousers
    681:1 skirt with labels
    682-686:5 fleeces
    687-690:4 dresses
    691-693:3 jumpers
    694:1 pair tracksuit pants
    695:1 coat

    Binned:
697:tealight holder that one of the kids had made at school, but had been broken in the loft :-(

And a bag of rags (old, stained, ripped clothes, some underwear, old cloths used in my cleaning business that have worn to bits).I had been throwing them in a couple of plastic bags for a few months.140 items .Adding that to the house total (seperate from loft),so that comes to 2624
