The Big Community Switch 27th Dec 16 at 2:13 PM
Registration is now open for The Big Community Switch powered by iChoosr. The Auction takes place on 14th February 2017.

Whether there will be winning tariff available, is another matter.

    https://bigcommunityswitch.ichoosr.com/Product/index.rails?actionId=544

    https://bigcommunityswitch.ichoosr.com/product/customizableinfo.rails?actionId=544

All you need to do is:

Register for free to express your interest.

You can register any time from 6 December up to and including 13 February 2017.

Energy suppliers are then invited to take part in the auction to bid against each other to offer the best deal. This takes place on 14 February.

The winning supplier will be the one making the lowest offer. We are not affiliated to any supplier. You will receive an email from 24 February onwards with an offer, based on the usage information you have submitted. You are under no obligation unless you decide to switch.

If you decide to accept the offer you need to let us know before 28 March 2017.

That last was about oil, fredandwilma...

Added another EHL to the list:

    https://thisismoneyswitch.co.uk/

Again, switching will commence on 14th February.

(Occasionally I've found variations in the tariffs offered by the different collectives powered by EHL etc)

Just a reminder of some of the forthcoming collectives, but remember, nothing is guaranteed.

Peoples Power February 2017 Collective Switching Results
    • #9
    • 19th Feb 17, 5:33 PM
Result from the Peoples Power Collective and some very sound advice:-

    http://thepeoplespower.co.uk/2017/02/19/february-2017-collective-switching-results/

    Latest Collective switching results

There is no easy way to give bad news.

We conduct our collective switches in a partnership with other organisations. In a background of rising energy prices no supplier would beat the best available tariffs on the market.

For this reason we have decided that we would rather not show the tariffs on our switching calculator as they come at the very top of the page and we thought that some people may be confused into switching to a more expensive tariff than necessary.

The main winner, from EDF energy is about £38 more expensive than the best available tariffs you can switch to online via the switching service. As the collective tariffs are shown at the top of the page, this may mislead people so have chosen not to make these tariffs available.

PFP energy has a cheaper tariff than the winner and has also done extremely well in independent reviews of companies (rated 2nd by Which? in 2017 review of best and worst energy suppliers). Another small company with cheap tariffs, isupplyenergy also scores well according to which (but not by our switching partner energyhelpline)

In our opinion a collective tariff should be cheaper than other tariffs or offer something like exceptional customer service.

Please contact us if you would like one of these tariffs and we will explain how it can be made available to you.

Can I trust small energy suppliers?

Almost all the cheapest energy deals are offered by small suppliers.

PFP energy and isupplyenergy offer good tariffs and have done well on independent reviews like Which? (both are better than any of the Big 6 suppliers).

There are some very cheap tariffs from new suppliers Iresa and Economy Energy. At the moment both these companies appear to have some inconsistent feedback from reviewers , including some very bad reviews See Iresa reviews on Facebook and Economy Energy reviews on Trustpilot. We cannot recommend these companies at this time – even though they have the cheapest tariffs.

Any supplier you switch to via our switching engine has full customer support – and with our cashback this makes our offers very competitive.

But I agree, most collectives have not been very good value lately.

Will be insteresting to see what MSE come up with next week, as at least they have in the past refused to promote collective switches that fail to save people money (hopefully they will continue with this stance )

At least you know that Iresa will not be providing the new collective deals

But not expecting to see any real deals from companies I trust. The iChoosr tariffs offered the last few times weren't the cheapest by far nor were the tariffs much cheaper than the energy company's own normal offerings. I think the gas deal offered to me was POINT ZERO ONE of a penny cheaper than the company's normal fixed tariff.

I'm glad I hung out for this Big Switch. They're a great idea.
The deal's still fourth down my list of savings though, so I've decided to take a gamble and switch to the still cheapest at the top of my list whilst it's still there. I've only six weeks left on my current fixed tariff and will get a big hike once transferred onto the variable.

    The Big Deal Collective
The Big Deal is offering a collective today:

Bristol Energy Collective Switch Paperless Bills

Britain’s first clean energy deal from a council-owned company
All profits are ploughed back into the community
Offer limited to first 2,000 customers

Bristol Energy are a national energy company, owned by Bristol City Council. Their profits will be invested back into local communities.

You'll get 100% green electricity, generated right here in the UK.

You'll get a great price - around £228 per year cheaper than a standard variable from the Big Six! [1]

You'll also get friendly customer care - from a Bristol-based team.

It's a one year fixed term tariff, costing the average dual fuel household £910 over a period of 12 months [2].

I don't find this tariff competitive, but someone else may?

However, I do like the thought profits are invested back into local communities. Local Councils have to raise funds from somewhere these days, I guess, to fill shortfalls in funding?
