    Walk 2000 miles in 2017 22nd Dec 16 at 8:29 AM
Myself and bugslet have decided to target walking 2000 miles in 2017.

Although a big target, I think it is achievable with consistent effort.

Anyone who wants to join us, feel free to post on this thread. Also feel free to post updates on your progress.

    Good luck and stride on!

I'm now on 1570 miles, 3,599,006 steps and 12165 floors so I'm averaging 5.9 miles a day which will put me on just over 2150 by the end of the year and a decent buffer. This week progress has been limited because we've been decorating every day after work so not much walking and also been taking my tracker off to stop it getting covered in paint so several hours each day including two longish dog walks haven't been tracked.

I'm not liking the days getting darker though, and wetter and colder, I'll still be getting my steps in but not going to enjoy it as much.

Ok I have just had a rough working out and I need just over 30 miles a week, so if I keep up what I have been doing......I should be ok.

I am now averaging 10 miles a day regularly and not even finding it difficult (sorry), I really have way too much time on my hands (feet)

I managed 8 yesterday and that included a three hour stint at the hairdressers.

September has not been great with a mix of a few days slow walking due to tendinitis and work being silly busy.

Am I the only person that's doing this with an old fashioned pedometer? No idea about floors

Well this week.... 9.5 miles and I am 100% there is not going to be any walking today! I’m currently 50% through laying new network cables at work and it’s been 6 hrs already!

Reason for such short mileage..... burn out. With working daft hours, then walking, then taking on decorating at home as well as general family life, its got too much for me. So much so on Thurs I felt very ill, not a cold or 'throwing up' type ill, just over tired. So the first things that’s had to give way is the walking. Granted its exercise and getting out, but at an hour or 2 at a time, its a lot of time and energy to sink.

Hopefully I will be able to pick it back up and do the minimum distances soon to try and keep myself on target, but I know that work is about to ramp up even more in the next week or so and I am going to be rather drained.... what I don’t want to do is get to the stage where I am fully burnt out otherwise its just not healthy.

SplanK - that's sensible (don't burn yourself out), respect the body and mind and if there tied then your right to rest.

out of principal I run for 1 hour each day to a max of 3 days in a row (3 days exercise then 1 day off), even if I feel ok I still wont run 4 days in a row

I only know my ascent as my watch has an altimeter based on barometric pressure built in which tracks when i run.

Bit of damage limitation going on this week.... feeling better but stress levels at work still through the roof. Going to be speaking with the boss tomorrow about it (he has been away last couple of weeks) as people are expecting far too much from me!

Only 13 weeks left until the end of the challenge!

Away in the southern office last week for three nights, so long commute there and back, work during the day, take customers out in the evening - they are all nice, so I don't mind - but altogether it does mean no walking.

And Premier Inn beds - like sleeping on a (S)plank of wood

    Hello Peeps!

Just reporting in that I managed to complete the 2017 miles sometime on 2 Oct 2017. A couple of big hikes last weekend got me over the line.

Mid-East is now cooling down nicely. Only mid 30's during the day. Should enable me to increase my walking quite a bit. However, I don't think I will be able to hit wizard's 3k goal by the end of the year. If I can reach 2700 miles I will be pleased.
