    Walk 2000 miles in 2017 22nd Dec 16 at 8:29 AM
Myself and bugslet have decided to target walking 2000 miles in 2017.

Although a big target, I think it is achievable with consistent effort.

Anyone who wants to join us, feel free to post on this thread. Also feel free to post updates on your progress.

    Good luck and stride on!

I've definitley slumped a bit in this heat. The dogs don't want to walk too much either, so my buffer might be slipping.

I've still got the pair of Merrills I got around Xmas times and another pair that I picked up from Sports Direct £34.99, both seem to be doing fine. Gfplux suggested not wearing the same pair of shoes every day, so I took note!

    Total 1065.1

And now need another set of walking shoes/boots. The ones I have now are starting to show their age and starting to hurt my feat.... the next set will be my 5th this year!

Cheap boots on tarmac! These ones are Regatta for £40 from GO. To be fair, these ones will push the 300 mark before I retire them.

My Salomon walking shoes lasted for around 700 miles before the tread wore out completely. Trying to find that middle ground of cost vs ware life!

My alt-bergs on the other hand have put out with around 100 miles and barely showing any sort of ware, but these are reserved for walking the hills!

A couple of weeks fitbit reports to add for me adding up to 67.87miles.

That takes me to 937.36 miles. That gives me 9 days to get 62.64 miles. I think I might fail especially if this weather keeps up. I really dont cope well with the heat but storm forcast so things might cool down a bit.

At least if Im not at 1000 target, I wont be that far off and can hopefully make it up.

Well done to all of you tyhat have reached target and especially to those that are well over target!

Total for 2017 is 991.0 miles.
More to the point it has brought my elevation gain for the year to 80,226 feet. My initial target for the year was 100,000 feet.

34.81 miles to add for my last fitbit report in the first half of this challenge.

This takes me to 1004.3 miles not taking into consideration what I have done this week up to yesterday which will go on next weeks report.

Phew!! Didnt think I was going to make it.

995 miles, so 5 miles short for the 2000 and 13 miles short for 2017. I'm quite happy at that. If we hadn't had that bout of really hot weather, I'd have been slightly ahead.

Total so far: 1123.2 (as of Sunday just gone).

Had a bit of a pants week a couple of weeks ago and only managed 16.9. Last week managed 41.2 but this week is off to a slow start due to illness and work.

Reporting in at the end of the 27th week 9 July 2017:

As of midnight Sunday night, I have walked 1598.06 miles putting me 548.12 miles ahead of schedule.

Back in the Middle East and the heat is really cranking up. However, I am still managing to get out in the evening. Just have to carry my own body weight in water to re-hydrate.

41.91 miles to add for last weeks activity.

Coul do with going for a decent walk today but finding it a bit muggy despite no sun. Hate walking when I'm hot. Maybe go later but as Im sharing a bottle of wine with a friend this afternoon......its not likely to happen.

Had a few really busy weeks with one more to go. When I was younger, I could 15-16 hours back to back and not worry. now 1 x 15 hour day and I need to recuperate.

Will do a total at the end of the month.
