    2017 - A year of change and positivity 18th Dec 16 at 9:10 PM
I started a diary a few months back - but to be honest I'm not feeling the love with it! So with Christmas and New Year fast approaching I figured now as the ideal time to draw a line and make a fresh start.

My debt was at its highest a couple of months back and was standing at 9173.90. It's been made up of largely a shed load of unexpected bills -vets bills, car purchase x2 (1x unplanned as first car should have lasted me a good 5 -7 years but I gave up on it after 18 months and 2.5k of bills ) and subsidising the final couple of months of maternity leave. Anyway, enough of that - what's done is done - it's time to put it right and make sure we don't find ourselves back there.

As well as the money I'm going to use this diary to track my other goals for the year. Following the birth of my DS I've managed to lose 2st 9- the 9lb has crept back on again and needs to be shifted! I've done it all through Slimming World and exercise (more about that in a mo). Would like to lose 1 stone, preferably before the end of March. I'll be tracking my progress here. Exercise - I started running in May and love it! I've entered my first 10k in March and would love to complete a half marathon in 2017. I've also signed up to a challenge to complete 1000k in 2017 so will use this diary to keep me focussed.

I also need to get on track with running the house. I feel currently it's a tip and out of control - sounds daft but this has a massive effect on my ability to relax and switch off. Everything from cleaning, to meal planning and batch cooking to shopping needs to be addressed. Again, hopefully this diary will help.

    Anyways back to the finances......
The debt is split as follows:
    Cc1 5570.74
    Cc2 953.35
    Cc3 790.01
    Overdraft 498.20
    Next - 42
    Very - 297.34

    Total: 8151.64

Cc1 & cc2 are 0% at the minute, so main focus will be clearing the rest.

    It's payday
So here are the scores on the doors

    Cc1 was 5370.74 now 5270.74 (-100)
    Cc2 was 910 now 889.53 (-20.47)
    Cc3 was 611.90 now 593.82 (-18.08)
    Next was 0 now 0
    Very was 288.25 now 159.74 (-128.51)
    OD was 463.82 now 476.33 (+12.51)

    Total was 7644.71 now 7390.16 (-254.55)

Not the best month ever but overall things are moving in the right direction and lets face it, 4 months like that and 1k is paid off. So not too bad I guess - I'm just impatient!!!!

Very *should* now be interest free until July, so this will paid off in 4 equal chunks. Focus will now be Cc3.

I've sorted a load more stuff for eBay so need to make time to get these listed.

My half is next weekend and I've not run since doing a 10k on Sunday. Been feeling generally grotty. Plan is for 4/5 miles today, 9/10 on Sunday and then 1 x 10k and 1x 5k next week. Fingers crossed all goes according to plan. Beginning to have serious doubts about it and this horrible chesty cold isn't helping matters .

    Have a good day x

    Thanks clearmydebts!

So I had a letter from cc1 offering 15 months 0% bt with 1.5% fee, so have transferred cc3 onto it. It's cost me approx 9 but will save about 3 x times that in interest ( and that's assuming I would have paid cc3 off in the next 4 months). I've updated the DD to cc1 from 100 to 150 a month. The OD is next on the hit list so it should hopefully save me some in interest on that too. As it's an 'in use' account, what I'm planning to do is hang on to my eBay money until the end of the month and then pay a chunk off it. Saves the temptation of seeing alleged extra money in the account and feeling the need to spend it! Plan is to clear OD by end of June

I managed to list more items on Friday and have already had 10 sale - as above this will now be set to one side and used for the OD and month end.

Supposed to be doing a long run today but feeling rough- am still going to give it a go as if I don't do it today I won't have time to recover and rest before the big day next week. Will take it steady tho.

Right best get those running shoes on.

    Morning,
Managed my 10 miler on Sunday and was pretty pleased with the time considering I felt so rough. Still not feeling fantastic and OH is really suffering. Just hope I don't get any worse before the race on Sunday.....

The BT has gone through. I'm now only paying interest on the OD. The plan with this account is that it's the one all my horse feed and wormers come out of. I pay in 100 a month. During winter, the hay alone is usually 60 but now I've turfed the big lad out at night, straight away I'll be saving 30 a month. If I can really knuckle down I can clear this by end of June and then just keep paying in as usual and then hopefully the excess will build up to cover next winters hay costs.

Got a few errands to run in town this morning and then meeting a friend this afternoon. The house is also a dump again so will need a quick tidy.

    Today's to do list....
    1. Post parcel
    2. Town
    3. Look into car insurance
    4. Put away laundry
    5. Ebay

    Morning!
So I've completed my first half marathon!!!! Have to say it was tough and perhaps not the best one to pick for my first, as it was very very hilly. But I managed to get round in a reasonable (for me!!) 2:22. Time I was pleased with, the run not so much so as I ran out of steam in the last 3ish miles. Never mind, a few mistakes to learn by for next time l

eBay sales have been steady. I've currently got 48 sat in PayPal which will (hopefully) get paid off the OD at month end. Need to relist and put some new bits on. I've got a couple of days off coming up so hopefully get opportunity then.

Dropped a clanger with my car insurance. It renewed earlier than I thought. Was convinced it was end of April, in fact it was end of March result an extra 350 taken from the OD. Have paid 50 in and have budgeted to pay 150 for the next 2 months. Should still be on course to clear by end of June.

Seriously need to get a grip with my eating habits. The weights creeping back on and I've avoided SW for a couple of weeks. I know it's because I'm not being organised enough and just reaching for convenience and comfort rather than investing a bit of time in planning. Have just weighed myself and I'm a stone heavier than the top of the range is like to be in. Need to get it sorted!!!

Right best getting - I'll be back

Arrggh! Why is this month feeling like such a long one??? Payday is a week tomorrow and money seems to be running out fast I know food shopping is our massive weakness, some months we do really well but the next we find we've run out of literally all store cupboards staples and need to do a huge shop which then sets us back for the month. I think I need to allow more in our budget for groceries just to make it more realistic, at least that way the money in theory is there and any not spent at month end can be chucked at the debts.

Spent some time at the weekend listing stuff on eBay. A couple of sales so far. My piles slowly shrinking but still plenty to go at.

Went to the local outlet centre at the weekend as needed a birthday present for a friend. They'd got a load of Christmas Yankee candles and gitsets with 70% off so I've put some away for christmas pressies. Yes a spend I could have done without but so much better than waiting until December and paying twice as much for a pressie that's not as nice.

Times getting on - best get moving x

    Morning,
Been awol for over a week but needed to drop by to clear my head a bit. I've had to have my big lad put to sleep over the Easter break, absolutely devastated. He's been with me for 15 years and to say I'm feeling lost at the minute is an understatement. I know things will get better in time and I know he's no longer in pain, which is giving me a lot of comfort, but I miss him so much.

Money wise things are also going to get worse as it looks as though the insurance won't be coughing up leaving me with a bill for approx 1k. Least of my concerns at the minute but it will need tackling in due course.

In other news, my last post was wrong - payday was in fact 2 weeks away meaning we still have a week to go! eBay sales have been ticking along quite nicely but the money has been used to help fund us through to payday. This months scores on the doors won't be pretty!

I went on a course at work the other week and for once I've found it quite useful. It was about productivity. Got me thinking a lot about my home life and my constant battle with chaos (can't have anybody over syndrome!). Lots I can take away and use. Will sit down later and make a few lists and draw up a bit of a plan. Really need to take back control of my life as right now I feel everything is spiralling out of control. Money as always is an issue, house is a tip, I still have a stone to lose - need to claw back control. I know it won't be an overnight fix but the sooner I start the sooner things will change.

    Thanks Bobarella x

Payday tomorrow at long last, so here are the (very ugly) scores on the doors.....

    Cc1 was 5270.74 now 5756.20 (+485.60)
    Cc2 was 889.53 now 869.52 (-20.01)
    Cc3 was 593.82 now 0.00 (-593.82)
    OD was 476.33 now 1028.95 (+552.62)
    Very was 159.74 now 165.73 (+5.99)

    Total was 7390.16 now 7820.4 (430.24)

Not great 350 of this is due to my car insurance but that still leaves 80.24 unaccounted for. Things are only going to get worse in the short term as well. The big man's final bill came in at 955. I'm hoping the insurance will cover at least 200 if not 700, but am working on the premise that they won't.
The little neds are also due vacinnations and dental check plus a blood test, this is estimated to come in at around 220.
Plan for the coming month is to use eBay money to save up for the wee ones vet bill (will be due mid- late June). Focus aside from saving for the vets bill will be the OD. Will pay back the insurance money and look at reducing it as much as possible......

Ran a few expensive ish errands in town yesterday. Hate hate hate going into the city wil the pushchair. Spent half the time waiting for lifts

Managed 2 eBay sales last night totalling 30 - this will be transferred into the vets bill account. Will get them packaged and to the post office later today.

Must get the claim form completed just in case there's any chance if them paying anything, been putting it off and putting it off but it's got to be done.

Hoping to stick as near to the food budget as possible this month as that is our biggest weakness. Will sit and meal plan for the month this evening. Need to do a quick stocktake of the freezer first.

Right time to get moving, have a good day x

    Morning!
Quick update this morning - 40 eBay sales yesterday means that the vet account is currently standing at 134.24/205 needed. This is for the first bill due 14th May. On top of that there is 750 that my Dad paid which I want to pay him back and another 220 ish which will be due 3rd June. Hopefully I will get 200 through the insurance and maybe an extra 500 depending on vet report needed for claim.

Day out with the little man planned - I best get moving!

So it seems that the bank holiday weekends been very kind in terms of eBay sales. I've now got enough in the vets fees account to pay the big mans final bill. The next focus will be the 220 ish I need for jabs, teeth and bloods. Managed to spend an hour or so this morning listing items, so fingers crossed for lots of sales!

Thanks Bobarella, very bitter sweet as in an ideal world he'd still be here and it'd be another chunk off the debt. But, at least the bills been taken care of without to much stress. Morning!
Had a productive couple of days. A few more eBay sales means I have 55 towards the next vets bill, so 25% out of the way. Vet came yesterday, all went well and the wee ones were very well behaved for a change. Had a chat with him regarding the claim form too, so will get that completed and sent off.

Sat down and meal planned for the week. Feel better for having done it. Really need to get back on track with SW as my weights creeping back up. The timing for my current group isn't working for me tho, so need to have a look for other local groups and take it from there.

Running has also taken a back seat, which I'm so annoyed at myself for. Think after the half, I suffered a massive confidence crash as it took so much more out of me than I ever expected and I've struggled since. That combined with everything that's happened in the last few weeks means my hearts just not been in it. I'm entered in a local 5 miler next weekend and really need to drag my self out for a couple of runs between now and then.

Lots of errands to run today....
    1. Post parcels
    2. Pick Ned meds up and pay bill
    3. Submit meter readings (and keep fingers crossed the bill moves in the right direction!!!)

Not a massive amount to report here. I managed a 5 mile run yesterday in the rain and I loved it! I think I have my mojo back! Will get out a couple more times ahead of the 5 miler next weekend. Hopefully with my rediscovered love if running my weight should also start to come down. Currently sat at 1 stone over where I want to be - will meal plan for the coming week later.

The claim form has gone to the vet to complete. He was fairly confident that they should pay out so fingers crossed. If that is the case what I owe my Dad should be covered, except for the odd 50.

Right haven't really got a lot to say so I'm signing off for now. Have a good day

Eek! My poor diary's been badly neglected. And if anything the last fortnights proven I desperately need it to keep me on the straight and narrow. We're now in the final week before payday and money is tight.... completely took my eye off the ball this month and I'm gutted about it. I've taken to spending (and eating) to cheer myself up after losing my big lad. I realise that both are completely counter productive as are just going to make me feel worse in the long run.......

So onwards and upwards. 7 days to survive before the start of a new financial month. Rather than eating and spending my way through next month, I'm going to run and exercise my way through it. I've entered another half marathon in September and I'm determined to finish that one feeling better about it than I did last time.

This weekend is going to be all about planning. Meal planning, training planning, goal planning (things we want to do as a family, home improvements, personal goals, birthdays and Christmas pressies) and creating a huge to do list!!! Will feel so much better once things are planned out and written down rather than having them whirling round my head all the time. Sounds daft I know, but if it helps then so what!

Got a couple of eBay parcels to send today, so will pop out at lunch to sort those.

Right best get the woofs walked. Have a good day x

Pay day at last! I do love payday, it fills me full of MSE enthusiasm - just need to keep it going through the entire month instead of the first few days!

    So scores on the doors.....

    Cc1 was 5756.20 now 5606.20 (-150)
    Cc2 was 869.52 now 849..52 (-20.00)
    Cc3 was 0.00 now 0.00 (-0.00)
    OD was 1028.95 now 1015.28 (-13.67)
    Very was 165.73 now 125.73 (-40.00)

    Total was 7820.40 now 7596.73 (-223.67)

Heading in the right direction, although still so annoyed as I know we're still wasting a lot of money

At the minute, it's the OD that's making me feel uncomfortable. It's taken a big rise due to my car insurance mess up, so really need to target that as priority. Plan was to have it a 200 by end of June - not going to happen!!!
So time for a new 3 month plan....
By the end of August OD will be <500, Very will be 0

Got a rare morning at home alone, so have loads of jobs to tackle!!!
    1. Fix wardrobe and put clothes away
    2. Batch cook for DS
    3. Post parcels
    4. Hoover downstairs (at least)
    5. Clean kitchen

There's loads more to do but need to be realistic
