Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2017 13th Dec 16 at 8:02 PM
Welcome to PART 1 OF Pay ALL Your Debt Off By Xmas 2017!

Firstly I would like to welcome all new and existing members from last years thread.

Anyone is welcome to join this challenge and it is NEVER too late. There is also no amount of money too small or too large that will stop you from joining this challenge. We have several members who will be on their debt journey for several years to come, but they are part of this thread to pay off a fixed amount of their debt as the support on here is fantastic!
So, if you think you can pay off all your debts by Christmas or have a goal to pay off a certain amount then please join in!

This challenge runs until 27th December 2017.

To help me run this thread easily, could you please all post your totals in large text and in a bold colour and post the amount you have paid off // target amount

It would also be a big help if you could also put with it your challenge number.
i.e. another £50 paid off so now the total paid off for

    #001 is £315.43/£7685.67
By the way, don't worry about working out your % paid as I can do that for you!

    Hi

Total newbie to both the MSE forums and this thread.

I desperately want to be debt free. I'm annoyed that between my husband and I we bring in over £3 a month and we are still left with nothing

    So I'm on a mission.

I know we may not be completely debt free by Xmas 2017 but we're going to make a huge go of it.

Going to concentrate on our 2 credit cards, 2 overdrafts, a buy now pay later scheme for a new washing machine and a high interest hitachi finance deal for a boiler we got almost 5 years ago.

I've calculated that the total for all that is £8282 (this includes the interest on the Hitachi finance)

Luckily the credit cards are interest free for the next 2 years.

The hitachi finance is the worst. I've kinda just let that one go paying the £72 a month etc. It's due to finish Dec 2020. I've just been on the Hitachi account and by merely paying an extra £18 a month the loan would be paid off in Jan 2020!!!! Ugh, why have I not concentrated my efforts on getting rid of this one sooner .

I think I'll pay minimum on my interest free credit cards and any spare will go to the Hitachi finance deal,

We do have some good habits - we over pay our mortgage by around £120 a month.
Been overpaying now for approximately 5 years.

Look forward to providing my updates every month and seeing the total going down

    Morning all

Been MIA for a while and thought it about time I returned and updated.

    #33 pleased to report

    2253.59/2253.59

So that is me with the exception of the mortgage now debt free.

I am happy, all money is now mine and not going to anyone else. Just need to save to get the mortgage down as quickly as possible and get the work done to the house.

Many thanks for the last couple of years doing this challenge, it has really helped me focus.

Ok, so I've not posted for a while. I had a few money things come up and have been dealing with those, as well as being busy with work and other things.

    So, here's where I'm at:

My last lot of insurance was costing me over £1000 P.A. (which is terrible I know). So, I did some shopping around and instead of paying monthly (nearly £100 pm ) I used some of my saved money to pay my new insurance in one lump sum. I got it down to £400, thanks to MSE In the process I have saved over £600 and have less monthly outgoings

So, with a little extra put in my new total is:

    #130 660/3000 22% paid

Hopefully I'll getback to where I was soon enough

Keep up the good work everyone
