Las Vegas guide and MSE thread 2017 10th Dec 16 at 2:34 PM
Las Vegas unlike nearly every other holiday destination you may have visited. In Vegas the hotels ARE the attractions. Most have a huge casino attached, but if you think that's all there is to the place, you are sorely mistaken! Each hotel is very different, with its own theme and attractions.

The good news is, is that Vegas can be a friend for us Money Saving Experts, with lots of free attractions, cheap eats/drinks and value for money to be had.

This page cannot hope to cover everything, but should point you towards some good money saving tips. All information at the start of this thread is put together by members of the forum and is accurate at the time of writing - we will update it when we can.

After reading the 'information' posts at the start of this thread, feel free to ask a question and join the discussion! We have lots of Vegas regulars contributing to this thread - join the gang!

One of my bosses is out in Vegas same time as me in a few weeks, he asked for recommendations for a good steak....
We eat off strip, but as this guy/wife wont be driving, they need somewhere on strip so they can walk to it....

I heard good things about the steakhouse in Excalibur, any info would be cool! (on strip!)

CC is probably the best if I had to choose one.

Delta flight return is the Virgin plane... as Delta merged with Virgin back in 2014, which is how I flew direct in June 2014 for £598 with Virgin by buying the ticket through Delta!

Fancy a Vegas trip in Oct and can position yourself in Shannon....

    from €282.
€287 for a sensible option on KLM via AMS. Worked on various dates when I tested it.......

Took me 40 plus hours this year from Norwich to Vegas with KLM refusing compensation. I have now been paid it but had to use a claims company to get it

Would I use them again? Possibly if the price was right , but my wife says no chance!

Into the last few days of our trip now. Weather has been really hot again, though due to cool down tomorrow for our last day! Was a bit cloudy today, but I was glad of that as it allowed us to sit by the pool for a bit, and we even put an umbrella up today for the first time!!

We've been having fairly early nights. I've not really got into a decent sleeping pattern yet since getting here. Monday we did Mirage buffet (free myVegas). I still don't care for that buffet. The chef station guy made me some pasta which was nice enough. I wouldn't pay the full price for that buffet. Last night we had 2/1 Bellagio, after using some TR points up at Burger Brasserie. Tonight our plan is to just eat at Stir (the small plates at happy hour are nice). We can always grab a piece of pizza later if we're hungry.

Tomorrow we will have a TR buffet - Paris or PH, not quite decided yet. Never done Paris buffet as not sure if it's very veggie friendly. Will be fine for breakfast though. Tomorrow night our plan is to go to Maggiano's happy hour for flatbreads, then an early night as we're up at 4am on Friday to fly home.

What has happened to Alamos prices at Vegas. Just looked and they were 4 x more expensive than Hertz etc.
It's only my cheerfulness that keeps me going

We booked our car through Rentalcars.com and it was at Dollar at TI. I saved £30 by cancelling and rebooking a couple of days before our trip though as they had an offer on. I think we paid £150 for a week.

personally would rather hire from a rental company.

what savings would you make over say picking the car up at a hire desk in one of the hotels?

Well I'm not sure whether to do Vegas or Dubai next year My heart is telling me Vegas, but I like it really hot, but can only afford to go in the easter holidays when it isn't that warm. Also, I'm getting pretty fed up with the jet lag (came back from Orlando on 5th this month and still a bit ropy) Dubai I only want to go because of a terrific deal on a very luxurious hotel, vegas for everything. The problem for me though is part of my experience is the Signature which is coming in at £2168 for 10 nights for me and Ds. When we stayed at Excalibur which is coming in at £1453.00 in April, in all honesty there was nothing wrong with it, it's just that the Signature is our go to place and I shouldn't really be spending any more than needed on a holiday next year, lol! What to do
