Refurbished ink cartridge rejected by printer 18th Oct 16 at 11:54 AM
I bought this as a spare a couple of months ago and when I came to use it a couple of weeks ago my printer did not recognise it. Can I get my money back through PayPal guarantee?

    Thanks,

    Have you contacted the seller?

As above contact the seller first.

You have 180 days from purchase date to open a SNAD claim on Paypal. You need to show that the item was faulty ON FIRST USE. So be clear, precise and don't waffle.

Is it an HP? If the problem is the result of the firmware update that blocked third party cartridges then there is an optional update to permit third party cartridges again.

If it does not work then you should contact the seller, assuming there is a fail rate for these. If the seller does not respond or replace/refund then you should open a case with Paypal.

The same thing happened to me about a year ago. I took the cartridge out of its wrapper about three months after I bought it on ebay and the printer rejected it giving an error message. I contacted the seller and they said that they did have problems with that particular cartridge but they had resolved them. They said they would send one out in the post that evening. I got it the next day and it was OK.

Open for SNAD, explain the item WAS FAULTY ON FIRST USE. Don't offer any explanation or help or reason.

    Then await the response.

When you can (assuming no resolution) escalate.

Paypal will ask you to return at YOUR COST via tracked method (ensure it is) to the seller for a refund of your ORIGINAL payment. You will lose the returns portage cost.

Is it worth it? I don't know the values involved.
