I wouldn't worry about it. Your work email should have been disabled on the server end so you probably just saw cached copies.

Just for safety I would remove you work email settings from your personal laptop (look in File -> Account Settings) to prevent you accidentally opening it.

its up to them to change the password and revoke your access, should be part of their checklist when you left site for the last time.

Is part of your settlement agreement not to look at your emails, then? Surely as you are still an employee they may still need to contact you?
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

    Hi Mate

No nothing in the settlement agreement to say this isn't allowed

As an employee it would not be unreasonable to access your work email unless it was a specific condition of the garden leave.
you still have all your contractual obligations other than turning up and working.

eg. if you wanted to go on holiday you should still use the holiday process unless the garden leave policy modified that.

I would delete the work email account now and then you can't access it by mistake, if they want to contact you they can phone you or send a letter (I know, radical solution or what?).

So that the thread makes sense to users who read it later...
    Hey Guys

Probably worrying over nothing, but at present I am on Gardening Leave.

Today I have signed my settlement agreement, and my employment comes to end on the 31st of October.

I don't have any company property eg phone laptop etc,

I loaded up my laptop earlier to check my personal e mails which I don't do very often as I have my iphone but as my iphone outlook mail server won't connect my laptop was my only option, and opened up outlook.

Just went on auto pilot, only noticed when I could see the address at the top.

It must have already had my work e mail details pre saved, so it booted up into my mail box.

I didn't read any of the e mails and just closed down and logged out.

Stupid mistake to make, I just wasn't thinking.

Apparently now outlook has an account activity checker that shows all logging in activity, IP address etc.

Can I get into trouble for this?

Little bit worried so thank you in advance
