Do you disable data on your phone? 17th Oct 16 at 1:22 PM
Help solve a dispute in the office, some say yes, some say no, what do you do?

When you are not using roaming data services on your mobile phone, do you disable data?

Yes, not so much because of charges but the phone gets very hot (to handle) if used continuously. Battery would not last the day either.
    Millies due back at Christmas.

I only disable data if I am in a country where it costs me money to use data. I have an unlimited data bundle from 3, and thanks to their "feel at home" plan, most countries I visit using data costs nothing at all.

No, unless overseas. Software updates are set to come over wifi only so I control data use that way.

Over here it is never turned off and sometimes used as a hub for my Ipad
abroad it stays in "plane" mode and data only via wifi if available

No. My contract is capped. I can't go over my allowance so I don't worry about it. Plus the fact I have unlimited data as part of my contract.

I used to swear by turning off my data (500MB on my phone, 2GB on my tablet which I do switch off unless it's needed as it rarely leaves the house where the WiFi is), but then I did an experiment to see whether I used it all up in a month, didn't, so left it on so my phone switches between WiFi or data depending on availability. I get a warning if I'm close to the limit so don't worry too much about it any more.

What is this 'phone data of which you speak? *confused*

Other than making or receiving calls or texts, my 'phone has no other capabilities.

My data is permanently switched off. Although it's a smartphone, I only use it as a dumb phone.
