The "homeowner" question... 12th Oct 16 at 1:35 PM
I would appreciate some opinions on this: when making any application for credit there is some variation on the question about home ownership. The wording varies. Some ask about "residential status", which gives me a problem.
I own a house. But I live elsewhere, in a rented one.
If I answer "private tenant" it is technically true but doesn't give them the information I thin they are after, which I think is about equity and reliability.
So - do I select "homeowner with mortgage" or "private tenant"?
I like to be honest but I also don't want my application to fall foul of what may just be poor wording or even restricted screen space - no doubt getting a poorer score in the process.

I would select homeowner. As you say, it's more about stability and ability to repay.

Thanks for that - it was the way I was leaning but I am aware of how dimly these things can be viewed by lenders. But in my mind I am giving them the information they are trying to ask for.
