I read an article today about Britain's best chippie's. Living in Brighton - we have some very good chippie's. What are the Fish and Chip shops like in your local area?

Having said that it's probably cheap compared to some parts of the country but this area has a lot of people on very low incomes. Years ago there always used to be a big queue at lunchtime, now there's rarely a queue. Of course the quality has gone down as well so I guess tbat could have something do with it also.

Not had fish and chips for 42 years!

Stopped eating anything with eyes in that year...apart from spuds!

My local chippy claims that the chips are cooked in veggie fat, I'm not convinced. Sometimes I miss chippy chips!

I can highly recommend the one that's right on the roundabout at the corner of the Boating Lake. Fab they are!

I just looked it up on Google streetview - Parkway, BH15 2PB - although there's always a possibility any business has changed hands... I last went there in 2012.

Tommix mentioned Sailors. The other chippy at t'other end of Ashley Road is also very good, Fishy on the dishy. Halfway chippy on Bournemouth road was good to.

Chez Fred, Halfway and Parkway were always claiming to be the best and winner of the accolade of world's best chippy.

An insignificant little building across the road from my house for very good fish & chips. A large village/small town in West Yorkshire. No need to go to Whitby - not for f&c, anyway.

A couple of good fish and chip shops in my area. One has an eating area but is also a takeaway and always seems busy. Not had fish and chips for ages as both chippies are quite expensive.

Still a lot of traditional F&C shops around West Yorkshire which look like they haven't changed much in the last century, including the original Harry Ramsdens, which is ironically no longer owned by them and is now a Wetherby Whaler

I don't live anywhere near the sea, unfortunately. Round here, they fry up insoles....so they say. I can believe it! I have a feeling that the chips could have been fried at some stage.
    No wonder I'm veggie!

I don't live a million miles away from whitby which does have lovely fish and chips. I always make sure that I partake when I am up that way.

Although my local chippies generally get their fish from whitby too.

I haven't had fish and chips in about 2 years, I normally have a battered sausage or nuggets instead. Getting fish is such a gamble - sometimes it's beautifully fried in a light and crispy batter, but I've had too many portions of anonymous fish shaped mush in stodgy batter to risk it.
