    Pension help/advice 10th Oct 16 at 9:23 PM
Hi! Would really appreciate some help/advice, completely new to this forum and also to the topic of pensions!

My husband has previously been in the NHS pension however is now self employed and hasn't made any payments to a pension scheme for approx 7 years. Am keen to rectify this but wondered what would be the best approach, contributions to a personal pension plan (and if so how do you go about choosing one) or start with setting aside some money into a savings account initially?? Or any other suggestions! Thanks in advance.

A couple of basic questions for you:

How long until your husband wants to retire?

Do you think that you and your husband will be able to resist drawing on money in a savings account when you need it for a new car or a holiday?

I would think approx 25 years, and yes that is a really valid point, possibly not, although could start with a fixed term to 'lock' the money away??!!
