Does anyone know how (or why) you log in or (re)register as a guest user?

I've just noticed that one of our trusty regulars' username is now showing up as a Guest only. I'm not sure I've ever seen a guest user before.

I'm confused at the question, but would add that it doesn't take much lately!

I've just never seen it before. It's like the account has been archived?
    Very weird.

I don't think a subscription service is available on this forum? Archived members on a forum like this are people with a status. The administrator will have made the decision to archive the content because the member was important to the forum. The archived member will no longer have access to the account - however, the information posted can be restored at any given time. It's nothing to worry about. My suggestion would be a member of staff has left.
