Help to buy or Santander 123? 9th Oct 16 at 3:39 PM
    Hi,

I have 8000 to save and want to know what would be best out of the following two options:

    A) Put it all into Santander 123 earning 1.5% AER on it all
    B) Split it between nationwide flex (5% AER on up to 2,500 fixed rate for 1 year) + nationwide help to buy ISA (2% AER on 1,200 in first month then additions of 200 per month thereafter) + nationwide cash ISA (0.95% AER)

I am not currently looking to buy a house but will one day in the future. If the Santander 123 was still 3% it would be a no-brainer! Club Lloyds is not an option because I can't meet the requirements.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

Decent rate HTB ISA is worthwhile but why bother with those other accounts unless you've already filled the various regular savers and higher interest accounts? And with 8k that doesn't seem possible.

Which part of lloyds criteria can't you meet?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

With the saver, you can put in up to 500/month so if you have spare cash move 500/month from BOS into the saver and then any spare cash can go into the BOS account, thus getting the best rate possible for all of your cash.

    Job done.
