Can I use an Alliance and Leicester cheque? 8th Oct 16 at 1:45 PM
Hello. I need to write a cheque urgently and can't for the life of me find my santander cheque book. I can, however, find an old alliance and leicester cheque book for the same account? Will that still work?

Another thing - this was a joint account so the cheque book has both names on it. It has since become a sole account (exs name was removed), will that be a problem either?

    Thanks in advance!

If the sort code and account number are still the same, I should have thought it would have worked.

Thank you both. EarthBoy that's right the sort code is different. However I read somewhere that they would still work for a while (that was a post a few years ago mind!)

There might still be account forwarding in place, but if there isn't then the cheque will bounce and whatever it is you need to urgently pay for will no longer be yours. Why can't you just make a Faster Payment instead?

I can pay over the phone so I'll do that and ditch the cheque book (and order a new one!)
    Thank you all
