If only it was as easy as casting a couple of Harry Potter spells eh!

I am a lurker in the MFW boards.

Main reason being at the moment that I am currently a DFW (Debt free wannabee). I have always been a bit frivolous with my spending which has kinda rubbed off on my DH (my fault) however we are both now in the zone with getting rid of the debt & saving for our own home

This is going to be a long term diary for me but I wanted to start it now so that I could share my full journey with you all & hopefully in years to come I can inspire someone else like me to realise that we can do this!

16.5hrs OT worked by the end of this shift today

26.00 paid into my paypal from one of my survey sites, will leave that in there as will be buying from ebay in the next couple of weeks anyway.

Waiting on 20.00 sainsbobs vouchers coming in the post from another survey site, once that comes in can tick another Christmas pressie off the list.

Okay so the two weeks of OT has come to an end and I managed to work a total of 29.5 hours. Will get paid for 44.25hrs in total.

Not going to lie this is not going to be put towards savings or debt, the plan for this was to have some money to enjoy next month.

    2016 update
So debt this year started at 14,523.76 and is 8,677.47 as of today.

Still quite a bit to go but that will definitely be gone in 2017.

May not be able to save too much in 2017 but will still make an effort to put away what we can.

Get rid of the debt, all 14,523.76

    Update
So debt total is now at £8,884.67 so making good headway. Plan is to get rid of it all by end of this year & if we can make a start on some savings.

Still keeping up with my surveys & up £211 at the minute, not able to cash out on all of them as yet but will keep going with them & use them all for Christmas shopping 2017.

Will be back next month with another update.

Get rid of the debt, all £15,000.00

    Update
So debt total is now at £7,756.32 so making good headway. 6 payments left this year to get rid of the debt so need to pay £1,292.72 each month to have it gone for good.

I'm going to budget better from my own account & any funds left over at the end of each week I will transfer over to the July 2017 payment fund.

Transferred £2.72 today so need to find £1,290.00 by the end of this month. The majority of this payment will come from our bills funds but will need to try hard to reach this target!

Get rid of the debt, all £15,000.00

    Update
So debt total is now at £6,926.46.

5 months of payments left in 2017 & I would love to have that total amount gone but not sure it is going to be possible.

I would need to scrape together £1385ish each month & I just don't have that sort of income!

If I can make it to December 2017 & have hundreds of pounds rather than thousands of pounds worth of debt this would be amazing.

Then its time to focus on the deposit savings

    Update
So debt total is now at £4999.83

Just under the £5k mark, will go down again next month when I make the payments.

I really really really wanted to be debt free by December 2017 but this is not going to happen, it will be gone now for February 2018 then the saving can commence.

What is a journey without some bumps in the road eh??

    Update

Eeeeeeeeek it's almost gone for the last time!!!!!

I had a secret stash (doesn't everyone) of £1,000.00 that I used last month to pay towards the CC so that means that we will be debt free before Christmas!

Cannot wait to start saving the deposit!

Need to figure out if its best for me to get a Help to Buy ISA or a Lifetime ISA in April so that we can get the bonus from the Government when we buy the house!

Decisions decisions but this time smart ones!

Can't believe the debt is in the hundreds now rather than the thousands. Feels like such an achievement to get it down to this amount.

Can't wait to be debt free, one more payment to go!!

Can start the savings from 25th January 2018
