Morning, can anyone recommend garden planning software that is reliable but won't break the bank please?

    Many thanks, Tilly

I'm sorry that I can't, but I have looked. In the budget range (admitted skinflint) most of the offerings were pretty weak, and many are all based on early 2000's programming that won't work well on Win 7 or 10. Tread carefully before splashing the cash.

There are some professional suites costing hundreds.... Not for me.... and often got usa plants, not uk.

I gave up, and went back to using a pen!

The only one I have ever seen that was worthwhile was an industry one that cost thousands. I've not come across one for the home gardener that was much cop. I find graph paper and crayons gives me as much of a plan as I need. I take photos and stick them on a big sheet of paper and do a sketch (I'm no artist by the way)

Have a look at (google) Piet Oudolf plans - they are just a load of dots and scribbles but the gardens are amazing.

I think that's what we will probably end up doing. Thank you both for your thoughts 😙

We have 1/2 an acre of orchard/veg area and I wanted to map it out before making some changes. Wish me luck sharpening my crayons.

VRH&G - I have reported you too, in order to keep MSE a practically helpful site - rather than full of self promoting ads - you won't do your company any favours.
