    Make 10 a day October 2016 Everybody Welcome 30th Sep 16 at 10:43 PM
    Hello and welcome everybody

This is the 110th month of this challenge, which was first started by Batgirl, in September 2007.

Thanks to Batgirl for starting it, lynnejk, Rawdinosaur, Emmaglet, Nat21luv, Monkeynut, Sweetpeas, Purpleroses, JesaRose, MizMir for keeping the thread going.

I know this first post is long, but please read as it give tips on how this challenge works. Some of the content has changed

If you're new to the challenge don't be scared - here's how it works:

The aim of this challenge is to make 10 extra a day everyday for the month. A lot of people think this is impossible but it can and has been done, over and over. If you feel 10 is too much why not start at 5 or if you're brave join those who aim for 20 a day! Anything extra you make is great so set whatever target you think you can manage.

It also doesn't have to be 10 each and every day - some days you make more and some days you make less, but aim for 300 extra at the end of the month.

The idea is that everyone posts how they are making extra money and these shared ideas help all of us to learn new ways to help cut debt or earn/save money.

    What cannot be added:

    Wages from your main job

    What can be added:
    Overtime
    Income from a second job
    Daily clicks
    Interest
    Vouchers
    Mystery shopping
    And much, much more.

This board moves pretty quickly, so be sure to subscribe and read it regularly. Below are some ideas to get you started and a great place to read when you're in need of inspiration.

    Sell your old books/DVDs/CDs/games here:
    Amazon.co.uk, play.com, webuybooks, zapper, CEX

Ebay - a place to sell anything and everything.

Gumtree, Preloved, cquot, ebid, craigslist, vivastreet, netmums.com, trade-it , Friday ad, priceminster - these are all places you can sell items too.

Survey sites - mysurvey and pinecone, prolific academic tend to be the best but there are many more it really depends on you finding the ones that work best for you - toluna, harris poll, valued opinions etc

also join topcashback and Quidco - type in surveys in the search engine and some will pay you to join up with them.

Sealed Pot Challenge 2016 - basically you put your change into a jar over the year so in December you should have a nice pot of money to help

Mobile phone to recycle? try Martin's mobile recycling comparison site first to see where you may get the best deal!

Music Magpie - have cds/dvds you haven't been able to sell at carboots or online. Try your luck here. Is you do sell your albums/dvds be sure to go via quidco to get a few more pennies

etsy and folksy - If you enjoy making crafts why not have a go at selling them on etsy or folksy. They've been getting increasingly busier each year.

Collect Boots points while shopping online.

Don't forget to search for your online shop at nectar.com before you buy, and earn nectar points for buying online, including ebay.

Trying to find other ways to make money? Check out the Boost Your Income board. It is full of ideas, including survey companies and product testing.

Want to help someone else out? Sign up through their referral on the referral board, and leave yours, so someone else can do the same for you.

Keep reading for lots more ideas on how to make more money each month.

This month's challenge is to try and make 300 (or any amount of course!) lynnejk is assisting me and will create the challengers list and update it. She will also be answering any questions she can help with and here for general advice. Having been a challenger for a while, she knows her stuff Thank you lynnejk for your help.

Good luck everybody. Remember to post any questions or comments that you have, and let's go on encouraging each other throughout this month.

We can and we will do it. Who's in?

    Well done

Just a thought but if one us did win the 150m jackpot, would Aesop let us count it towards our total for the month?

Well done to all money makers and a big welcome to all the new people on the thread this month.

Has anyone who does surveys had any problems with Just The Answer? I've been fairly successful with them over the years and have had a few cashouts. They only offer Amazon vouchers as payment though. For some reason I can't access my account any more, or log in to the main website. They still email me invitations for surveys which I complete successfully and get a message that my account has been credited but I can't see how much I have earned in total as it requires logging in again. 4 times now over the past month I've requested a new password (although there isn't anything wrong with the one I've been using) but they never send one.

I can't think what else I can do. I plan to withdraw all my money (once I know how much it is and can get to the redemption page) and then close my account. Life's too short for all the hassle

I never think of phoning these companies, I always rely on the computer when things go wrong but there's nothing like a conversation with a real person to get things sorted.

Everything's fine now but sadly I still need a few more points to reach the next payout level

I've just over 20 payable in PA now but have 3 others still pending so may wait until they are accepted and withdraw it all at once. They must have upgraded their system recently as the website loads and operates so much faster and gremlin-free than it used to. I even seem to be eligible for more surveys than I used to be too. I love that site, thanks so much, Aesop, for putting us onto it in the first place

I know how tiring I found reading for any length of time it when I only needed a stronger glasses prescription. When my Granny had her catarcts done donkey's years ago it involved an overnight stay in hospital but that may have just been precautionary as she was in her late 80s at the time. The procedure is so much better nowadays.

Like you say too, it's lovely when we can help one another on all sorts of subjects without fearing the scorn and nastiness that is definitely rife on some other threads. I shake in my shoes whenever I have to seek advice on the techie thread.

Hope you got your MS results submitted on time and without any hitches, Aesop. I was thinking of you today when I was having all sorts of problems with my internet. It's not the connection now BT have sorted it, it's just the numbingly slow broadband speed that we get here. The joys of living out in the sticks

Managed eventually to submit my final survey for the toiletry products I've been testing. They've been a joy to use and there's still loads left.

Posted 2 books but not paid yet. Received 8 from Pinecone (that's a 3 plus a 5 redemption). They pay us old-stagers 4 a survey but don't offer a 4 cashout like they used to.

the big one with the sunday deadline has queries. I keep having to check my email for questions and then replying to them. it was an odd one, involved gathering information but how it is presented is another thing so am getting queries on what I wrote as to what the client want....

I went to school this morning at 9am for a PTA meeting to find they changed the date without telling me to Thursday am which I told them I can't make. I am the Secretary so they should have told me. I did say it doesnt matter if I am not there as long as someone lets me know what was discussed so I can do the necessary emails where required. But to not bother telling me they changed the date.... I already have my reservations on this PTA. seems like the chair and vice like making decisions on activities and dates between themselves and then tell the rest of the committee... and then ask us to volunteer...

lol the joys of being at school with their cliques....

virgin called at 2pm to tell me they aren't coming until 4pm , which is good but I wasted a whole morning not doing things in case they turned up.....

People can be so thoughtless can't they? I've been on a few committees and suchlike that were like that. They don't deserve people to give up their time to help.

Sorry to hear about the MS submission problems especially after you put in so much time to do the jobs in the first place. I hope things work out OK for you in the end. No wonder you're tired though.

Just remembered a really good novel I read recently called Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I don't suppose you have any time for reading in your busy life but if you do I can really recommend this one. Based around the rivalries/ machinations/goings on of parents at an elementary school in Australia. Funny and shocking at the same time but an easy read nevertheless. I wonder if Lynne has read it?
